History

Established in 2012.

We came to Canada in 2011 for a new family adventure and spent our first year here developing the germ of an idea that has now grown into english&miller. Originally opening in Barrie, we have now relocated to Downtown Collingwood. The combination of a shop and a tearoom is very common in the UK and we thought the Canadians would enjoy this experience too! We have started to build a very loyal customer base who love to come in and enjoy our lovely space with a nice cuppa. We enjoy hearing stories from the old country as we have met so many lovely people who have a connection to Britain.

Very disappointing. Ham & cheese sandwich was served with shredded cheese, no mayo, or mustard. Undressed salad, with a sprinkling of balsamic vinegar. If you’re doing an English tea room, have good English cheddar, And mustard. Tea cozys for the tea pots so tea isn’t cold. Brownies were hard and cold. Very blah, and boring. DO NOT recommend.

The best cup (or pot) of tea in Barrie. One of the best views of the waterfront as well. I love to go in an order an egg salad sandwich. It comes with a small salad and the bread is fresh and delicious. It is also a gift shop that has unique gift items you won’t find anywhere else. If you are craving good English chocolate you can find that there as well.

I highly suggest making a reservation. This tea room appears to be highly in demand. I had the the cream of earl grey, it was nice. It could have used more tea leaves, it was very weak.
The salmon sandwiches were the best part of the tea, followed by the rest of the sandwiches then the scones.

On the final day of our visit home with Dad, we had lunch at English & Miller. And what a lunch it was!
Styled as an English tearoom, complete with a shop of tea-​related goods, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lovely view of the lake. We ordered tea (of course!), along with stuffed baked potatoes & salad. We all had different toppings, and all of them were fantastic!
Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend and look forward to the next visit!
