Tried out this place for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere and décor is fantastic. Our server was very nice and our appetizers came really quickly. The food is delicious. Really exceeded my expectations! after the apps our server was no where to be found, we hadn’t even ordered our entrees yet and our glasses were empty. We saw a gentleman who I assumed was the owner at the bar and explained what was going on. He was really friendly and thanked us for our feedback. He didnt make any excuses for what was obviously a busy night. Our entrees showed up and it was worth the wait. Will definitely be going back!

After making reservations at another restaurant and arriving to be told they didn’t take reservations after 6:30, a quick call to this place saved my butt. We arrived a few minutes after my call to a table for 8 all ready for us. It only got better. The place has a nice pub feel to it, dark wood, banquette seating along one wall, tables in the middle, a booth at the back and the bar with seating along the other wall. Shantal our server was great, put up with our silliness and paid just the right amount of attention to our table. I can’t remember exactly what everyone ordered but what I do remember is: The standout was the Four Onion Soup, their version of French Onion soup which those that tried it agreed it was excellent(almost as good as mine my husband said). Everything else was very good, everything was eaten with no complaints, Scotch Egg, Nachos, Chicken Tikka Masala, Seafood Chowder, Bangers and Mashed, Maple Glazed Salmon, Fish & Chips and Churchill Steak. Some even found room for dessert and tried the Sticky Toffee Pudding and cheesecake of the day, lime I think. Substitutions for sides are easily made. Seems to be plenty of gluten free or things available with a gluten free option. A couple of people at our table with very particular food allergies were catered to easily. There was a couple misfires on my husband’s Churchill steak order but it was handled well and can be forgiven with such a large table with so many orders. So I’ll have to thank that other restaurant for helping us make a great find for their replacement. Just sorry it took us so long to give this place a try.

The Bulldog is my new favourite dining place in Cole Harbour. I have eaten here about a dozen times now, sampling different items each time. The food has been consistently good,(borderline great) each time and the wait staff are pleasant and efficient. Now we are talking pub fare here, but even so — I have never before felt the urge to thank the chef in a pub. I did just that after the pan-fried haddock; it was just that fantastic! The one dish that didn’t impress me too much was the Tikka Masala. It was tasty and all, but for $ 16 dollars it seemed much less substantial than their other mains. I like a hefty portion when we are talking pub food, and this one didn’t do it for me.(My wife would have probably loved it.) The rest of the menu keeps me coming back. The seafood linguini is epic. Mussels, shrimp, scallops & baby clams in a rose sauce tossed with baby arugula. The mac and cheese has comforted me on a few icy afternoons last winter. The Bulldog is a great venue for Cole Harbour. As I said it is my new favourite dining spot in CH, but I also like to just sneak in for a scotch egg and a cider while my wife thinks I’m shopping in the Superstore.

Love this place. Food is awesome, the green curry mac and cheese is to die for. Sunday roast is like home made why cook when the Bulldog will do it for you. Haven’t tried the pizza so can’t comment but not sure why one would expect pizza in an English pub to be terrific anyway. Staff are great have always had great service.

Food was great, service quite slow due to only one wait staff on(Monday dinner time). Décor is fun and bright. Nice offerings of foods from all around the UK. Beer selection was OK, with only one British beer, several Irish, and some local micro brewed. Looking forward to them getting established, great potential for a British(note this does not mean English) style pub.

Been here a few times and things are coming along nicely for this new spot! The food prices are excellent and it’s great to see they use as much local product as possible. Live music on Wednesday, and two TVs at the bar if you just want to have a drink and catch the game. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable and the staff are friendly and courteous! Can’t ask for more unless nothing pleases you ;)
