Just moved to Cochrane. First time here and will definitely be back, great food choices, had the lunch special and was an excellent choice — food, décor, service and friendliness top notch

Terrible service and food.
Had the Hell beef dish at Lunch and it was completely chewy, after stuffing the 4th inedible piece in to my overflowing napkin, I then asked for a knife to try and chew smaller pieces. Still no good. So, I push aside. The waitress came by and i told her it wasn’t edible. She gave me a nasty look, then started poking the meat with the fork like I was lying. She then said, this is AAA beef from Costco and walked off. Never offered an apology, or alternative dish. I went to pay and there was no offer of any discount, for the uneaten meal.

An excellent post-​hike meal. We stopped in here after a long day of hiking and left very satisfied. The red curry with coconut rice was delicious and the Pad Tai was absolutely incredible. The restaurant is very clean and the service was great. The food was quick but tasted fresh. A great meal if you’re looking for lots of flavour and variety.

The Chiang Rai Thai restaurant is hidden in a strip mall close to the CIBC. They offer a wide variety of dishes including two lunch specials for $ 10.
The decoration is somewhere in between diner and high end restaurant: on one hand they have real cloth napkins and wine glasses on the table, but on the other hand they have covered the table cloth with glass for quick and easy cleaning.
The service is excellent, staff is always friendly and the quality is consistent. The restaurant is usually busy and it is always a surprise to us how many take-​out orders they have on top.
I highly recommend this place.

Wow! Impressed!
I had still been on the hunt for some amazing Thai food within the Calgary area. I just may have found «the place» today after 2 years of looking! Totally worth the drive out to Cochrane. (Thanks Unilocalers!)
We arrived upon the restaurant’s dinner time opening at 4pm on a Sat. They close at 2pm after lunch and then reopen. Loved having the place to ourselves a for a bit and service was great! The restaurant is nothing fancy, very unpretentious and clean.
The cool day called for a spicy red curry dish for me. Authentic tasting and delicious it was! I recommend it with a side of coconut rice, worth the $ 2 extra over the jasmine rice although I am sure this place would rock that too.
Hubby had his fave Panang curry dish and he devoured it. He was especially pleased with the chicken (all white meat, tender) in the dish and how much of it there was. Decent portion and I have no prob paying $ 12.99 for a well executed curry dish!
The care and selection of the Thai ingredients was evident (bamboo, basil etc)
Cannot wait to come back to try the Pad Thai!

Oh. My. Goodness. Thank the food Gods, I’ve finally found pad thai to rival that from the streets of Koh San Road in Bangkok! I have been on the lookout for decent Thai food for ages, and today was my lucky day!
Chang Rai is an average looking restaurant from the outside, and exactly how you would expect it to look on the inside. Even its menu is exactly what you would expect. But what these guys have figured out is how to make a fabulous dish of pad thai, complete with chicken, tofu, veggies and bean sprouts on top! I didn’t try anything else on the menu, and I probably won’t!
This pad thai is worth driving for, so hop in your car and get out to Cochrane for a tasty treat!

Wonderful food, friendly staff, excellent value! I love this little restaurant and keep coming back. It’s well worth the drive from Calgary. Try the curries — they are superb!
