I’ve been here a couple of times with my in-laws(who love it), and it’s the very essence of a great small-town diner. It’s definitely worth pulling off the south shore highway for. Small inside, with ‘50s/‘60s-themed US diner décor, especially toy cars. It’s not a big menu, but there are a couple of items that you just can’t go past: the fish and chips(some of the best I’ve had in the province) and the pies(coconut cream or pecan). Get them in you now. You can get the pies to go if you’re too full of fish and chips. I hear their pancakes are great too, but I haven’t had them. There’s a big box of toys for the kids.

The building isn’t much to look at from the outside, but if you’re looking for fish & chips worthy of being served in Nova Scotia, this is the place. Outside you have lots of parking, and a deck with picnic tables for when the weather’s nice. Inside is classic diner décor. Pictures of vintage Hollywood icons, lots of chrome, a counter with homemade baked goods on display, and friendly staff. The fish is moist with a crispy coating. The fries are hand cut, the tartar sauce is house made. We camp in the area every summer(Grave’s Island) and make a point of visiting The Stretch.
