The rating is for the truly wonderful home-made fish and chips. Crispy on the outside and moist and tasty inside. This was a serendipitous find after our Unilocal-defined first pick turned out to be closed for vacations. I couldn’t stand the idea of eating on-the-road industrial food and spotted this place on a great old-time business district near the river. Madame Nateau, the proprietress, has been a community pillar for quite some time as attested to by the community awards on the wall. The place is decorated with an array of folk art from a very devout point of view. The sincerity of the décor is the antithesis of corporate food. Madame Nateau’s daughter told us that the fish and chips recipe was something that her mother brought with her when she moved from Quebec. They use tilapia for the sweeter-than-usual taste that I liked.
