«Oh, the Barking Frog. It’s one of those community pubs that is always so dead, you wonder how they stay in business…» I started this review a few months ago and never finished it. The funny thing is that the Barking Frog IS one of those dead community pubs that don’t stay in business. Very recently, they closed their doors and made way for a new sushi bar. I’m not sure if the sushi bar is open yet. Overall, it was a mediocre drinking establishment with pretty hilarious wait staff. It’s always sad to see a small business leave, but with the new Windsor Rose in Walden, there’s no business for the Barking Frog. Goodbye, Frog! It was good drinking with you!

They tell me the owner really cleaned the place up and made it look good, but there’s something a little strange about the atmosphere at the Barking Frog. I think it’s the painted-to-look-like old brick walls and the general layout is quite plain. Just a bunch of tables in a square room. But it attracts locals and for a neighbourhood pub, I suppose that’s all you can ask for. They also tell me the owner used to serve really cheap beer. That doesn’t happen anymore, but at least the beer is fresh. We were in on a Friday night and it was busy. The service was terrific, we never had to go long without a beer. If you live in the area, this is a great place to meet someone at and have a drink.
