Too bad they closed this location. It was so cozy and had great staff. The coffee here was always fresh. Really liked going to this location. Now they put a tanning salon, I think that business will go out of business.

Naturally, I will be coming to this starbucks a lot because it is in walking distance to my home… The only downside is that this location is kind of small and it’s hard to want to go and write or even just relax for an hour or two inside… Which I love to do in coffee shops. But I always have had a great coffee here and the service is fast and the barista’s are friendly!

Oh the memories. What would the Lost Generation be without Café Select? Or the Beat Generation without Vesuvio’s? Similarly, I cannot imagine closing out a night with the PowerFriends without a nightcap at the Shawnessy Starbucks. This Starbucks location has itself gone trough a series of generations of employees. Elroy, Vixen, General, Whitehorse, Abacus, Vander Schnein, Skeletor, Tatiana, Foamié … all have gone on to bigger and better things. But while the faces may change, the location remains. So many Sunday afternoons … so many Thursday nights … so many memories. This will always be THE Starbucks I think of when someone says«Starbucks.»

If you live in the South you have probably been here! ahhhhhhh! good ol’ Shawnessy Starbucks! where would i be without my weekly grande lactaid caramel macchiato?! The majority of the Unilocal stars given pretty much represent the value of location! Being within a Chapters, beside a theatre, and a skip or two away from Superstore, makes this Starbucks an optimal launch pad for an unplanned evening. With that comes tons of traffic on weekends so be ready for a long line up but things usually move by like clock work and seats usually open up without too much of a wait. Along with a great location comes a parking lot from hell but nothing 5 or 6 cycles around the lot won’t cure. as for quality of coffee i’m not a big drinker other than the usual macchiato or chai latte so I really don;t have much to compare it too. But I can say that it definitely maintains consistency which is the bread and butter of any franchise. Bottom’s Up!

Love how this place is open till 11pm, especially on weeknights! I’m not the only one that share this sentiment. It seems this location is a perfect spot if anyone wants to open up a hip coffee shop. Considering an expansion chain Higher Ground?

Located a stone’s throw from our place, and the site of countless hours of dawdling around after dinner/before a movie/whatever time of day, this location of Starbucks is a little like home. The company is always great, Chapters is right beside it, and it is a classic hangout location. Drink-wise it is Starbucks, so however you like it. For the uninitiated, it is usually highly congested, parking is often a disaster zone, but hey, a group of fellas needs to hang out somewhere!

I have been coming here for at least 8 years ! I call this Starbucks my «home base» Starbucks and it scares me to think about how many 5 dollar chai lattes I have purchased ! Hahahaha To my knowledge this particular Starbucks is one of the most busy locations in all of Calgary ! If you come here before a big movie release just know that you will be in a very bumpin’ atmosphere with long line ups and no seating. This place has become somewhat of a «local» for me, kind of like that sitcom cheers!(sort of) certain generations of baristas I would even know them by name and converse with them often! For ambience this place gets a 5 in my books. It’s like a home away from home away from home. For service and food I give it a 4 because as most of you probably know Starbucks can be a little inconsistent and of course I know the coffee is only average(by snob standards) Either way I love this place! If you are the type that’s likes to bum around starbucks and do school work, surf the Internet or just have a place to hang out for post dinner conversation this one is a good one! Check it! This review was composed at this location! How appropriate !

Well, it’s Starbucks, so you know you’re going to pay a stupidly ridiculous price for your coffee or tea simply because there’s whipped cream and caramel sauce on it. This location usually has incredibly long line-ups, especially when people stop by on their way to a movie next door. They’re usually pretty good about churning out the drinks but if they could put one more person on during the busy times, it would make a huge difference. Parking is usually fairly congested. There’s no drive-thru. One deduction for price/long lines and one for parking/no drive-thru.
