Silver Tip Electrical & Controls Ltd

Not at all impressed with Shawn and Silvertip Electrical at all. I built a new acreage this year and hired Silvertip to do all my electrical services. Had them give a quote to do job, was happy with quote even though it was higher than other 2 I received from other companies. Came highly recommended so we commenced the work. I gave him progressive payments as the work was being done. When job was at 80% completion, I had paid him in full from his original quote. He then made mention in order for him to complete the rest of job he required an additional 40% of original quote and that would bring me up to par for work completed. I said forget it. I then had to hire another electrician to complete remaining work in which cost not even a ¹⁄₈ of what he was asking for.
Next thing I know I receive a lien from Alberta Land Titles on my property from him requesting an additional 65% over original quote. I filled out my necessary paperwork from AB Land Titles, had the lien removed and haven’t heard from him since.
Be very careful if you choose this company.

Wish I could say positive outcome. But reality is with this provider, over promise under deliver! Need I have say more.

Okay, so now I’m really disappointed. Shawn never did get back to us — and I think I know why. We’ve just hired an electrician to do the renos — and upon looking at what needs to be done he commented that 1) the panel Shawn replaced a few years ago is not properly grounded; and 2) there was never an inspection done which means Shawn didn’t pull a permit (which I think would have created an insurance problem had there been a fire). When he came to look at the job he said «Oh yeah, you’ve never had an inspection done on the panel — we’ll do this new work on the former permit to save you some money». Sad to see such dishonesty in the trades.
