I’m writing this review because of my technician he deserves not 5 but 10 stars!
I’ve had Shaw before cable before. I always cancel before the summer because who wants to sit inside and watch TV in the beautiful Calgary weather or because the Toronto Maple Leafs don’t make the playoffs. so you can imagine how often I cancel. That being said my technician was awesome (I forgot his name) he was very helpful and friendly. We talked about hockey etc. Which I found awesome because I’ve had people come into my home and it was just awkward they didn’t talk or didn’t answer your questions!
But yesterday’s service was awesome, thank you for the great service!
Go Leafs Go!

And not just supporting a Canadian company, but anything but Telus ;)
This review is for their Shomi service, which has been a pleasant experience since Christmas, all the binge TV watching in between writing Unilocal reviews, it’s a nice breather haha.
So what I love about this streaming service is one, doesn’t affect nor require Internet speed, as the system is run right from the PVR box; no slow downs whatsoever! I’ve had some experiences with Netflix at my buddy’s place, and it may be true that they have more newer stuff, well, by the time you catch up on 2 – 3 seasons worth, then it’ll be ready for Shomi lol.
And here’s another cool thing: every completed episode that you finished watching, there’s a checkmark beside, as per pic. No need to keep track ;) There’s 24 episodes in one season for Modern Family! Haven’t been this enthralled since Entourage and Seinfeld!!!
Highly recommend to try their one month free trial, or just $ 9/​month afterwards. As much as a Mcdonald’s Super size combo ;)

If I could give Shaw negative 5 million stars I would. WORST CABLE SERVICE EVER! I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been a customer for years, not sure why I stayed this long. Always having to call about something. Channels going out, sound off, frozen pictures, tv shows ending before they are supposed to, Shaw cuts off channels without telling me. If you need help and try to call, you end up waiting for at least ½ hour to talk to someone. Online chat isn’t any faster. Today there were 28 questions ahead of me. Ridiculous! Then the customer service agent is usually rude and stupid and blames me for the problem. Shaw never takes responsibility for the problem ever! The price I pay for internet and tv goes up all the time and the service keeps going down. It’s not worth it.
I could go on and on about the problems I’ve had over the years but I won’t. Do not use Shaw unless you want crappy service at a really expensive price.

Been with shaw for 12 years now they are a loyal company. Phone service is fast as well as home services. Have had great deals through the years if you pay your bill on time and loyal. You will receive discounts etc. don’t charge you too come in to fix a problem like telus. Shocker lol. Great job shaw !

I used to hate Shaw. There I’ve said it, but I think for emphasis I should say, «I used to HATE Shaw.» I would have to say that «HATE» in some ways doesn’t fully encompass the raging depths of an anger that was so complete that it nearly made me crazy. Oh, Shaw you have no idea. When you call for service and hear, «Your call will be answered in 7 hours…» and realize they’re not joking.
Anyway that’s all behind us now. I can almost mark the date a couple of years ago when I had an issue, and girded my loins (sorry for the unpleasant mental image there) for the inevitable war of mud and attrition that I was about to launch — like the Somme — except fought over something more viscerally important — my picture quality for the upcoming NFL season. Anyway, something incredible happened. Someone answered the phone. They booked a service call in a reasonable amount of time and my issue was miraculously resolved less than a week later.
Since then it’s been nothing but rainbows, bunnies and unicorns. If you’re reading this Shaw, good job in listening to your customers and fixing your service. I was on the verge of leaving you. You’re not cheap, but you’re making it easier. I also feel like you care now.

We had internet and television service from Shaw for a number of years. It started out fine, but went downhill very quickly.
Their internet started to slow down to ridiculous levels and drop constantly. Paying through the nose for internet that drops to below 1mbps down every day from around 3 pm until very late at night is definitely not my cup of tea. Any attempts to speak to customer service about this issue went nowhere; the infrastructure just wasn’t able to handle it I guess… Their TV service was just fine though, which is why we continued to use them for a while.
Finally we had enough of their terrible service and switched to Telus Optik. When we told them to stop our service, they did it no problem but were really rude when we returned their cable box. It really felt like they thought it was our problem for not loving their ~amazing~ service. Okay, whatever guys.
To really rub in their terribleness, they have been spamming us non-​stop. It used to happen almost every single day, but now it’s down to 3 times a week after we put a «no flyers» sticker on our mailbox. I’m really tempted to save them all up and then drop them all off in a huge, heavy brick on their doorstep.

LOVE SHAW! Awesome Customer Service, Awesome programming! Fast Internet.

I’ve been with Videotron (back in the day), Telus, and Shaw for various combinations of home phone, DSL, high speed cable internet, cable TV, etc. All in all, I’d say I’ve been most satisfied with Shaw. Service has been good and pretty few service interruptions overall.

Unlike the previous reviewer I think that Shaw has been great to deal with, and as far as paying 2 months in advance, I have never had to do that. Shaw has always been friendly to deal with, quick to deal with any technical problems, and priced reasonably. Best of all, I like that I am not in a contract, and am free to leave at any time. I dont plan to at all, but its nice not to be stuck in a contract. I like Shaw, I will stick with them. ]

No thanks… they are toooooo pricey for me… Charging two months at a time and I can never get ahead. Several times was cut off. My last month they told me to pay $ 425-​which I did in two payments last month. Two weeks later I get another bill for $ 317???EXcuse me… More than $ 200 each month for phone, cable (basic)and internet is stupid.

With the prospect of buying a new home comes the prospect of making bad decisions. In order to educate myself I decided it would be good if I could watch some home buying shows on cable; with that said, cable company of choice is Shaw Cable.
No contract fees, free installation and just 9.95 a month for six months which I can cancel at any time with a 30 day notice. After the six months my basic cable package will cost approximately $ 36 dollars a month, but I can spend that in a week just by renting movies so this way I can get my home renovating channels and watch movies on cable instead.
The telephone service department is spectacular, friendly, informative and reassuring. I waited for the cable guy and he called me before coming, within minutes he was there installed my cable, took my money of course (first month) and off he went.
I am as I write watching a home buying channel and getting home inspection advice. Hopefully my small 9.95 a month investment will save me thousands of dollars.

Full disclosure, I used to work for Shaw for several years. This review, however, is focused on the services they offer and how they treat their customers. So it’s not about my personal experience working there, but I’ll be honest it’s a little influenced by it.
I have been a Shaw Cable customer since 1997, when they purchased the cable company in my hometown, Fort McMurray. A year later, they launched Internet in Fort McMurray and we quickly signed up. At that time, and over the course of the next 5 or 6 years, it became a period of great growth for Shaw. And with that growth came lots of pain. I won’t talk about that time though, as it’s not entirely fair.
I’ve had service with Shaw in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, and Calgary. I’ve also had service with other providers, and assisted friends with their other providers. I can say, unequivocally, that Shaw provides the best all around service in Western Canada.
While Shaw has it’s issues, and it can certainly be like gambling to get a good, knowledgeable person on the phone, the company always seemed to genuinely care about customers. I realized this before I started working for them. And having been in the inner-​circle, I can tell you that customer experience is a top focus for them.
As for the service they provide, in recent years Shaw has really bulked up the cable packages they provide. Their channel line-​up and HD choices are getting closer and closer to Bell TV every day. Although you’ll still find more channels available with Bell TV, the saturation of PVRs has all but eliminated that void. The Internet service is still, in my opinion, among the best in Canada. I’ve heard horror stories, and been directly involved in some issues, but in all the places I’ve had Shaw (over a dozen) across three cities, I’ve never experienced any major issues with my Internet service or any speed issues whatsoever. I’ve been lucky, no doubt, but that really does say a lot about how they run their network.
Finally, Digital Phone. Shaw’s Digital Phone service had several hickups after they launched. The rollout did not go as smoothly as anyone wanted. However, they have all but eliminated those quirks and issues and now have a product that stands up against any conventional phone service. Is it perfect? No, but it’s close enough to be a great replacement for your traditional landline.
So why only 4 stars? Well, Shaw faces the same hiring issues that any other company has. You hire someone that you hope will be great, and they turn out to only be good or less than that. It happens. But, unfortunately, you can end up having that person on the other end of the phone. For that reason, I had to remove a star. But I truly believe they are still the best option for TV/​Phone/​Internet in Western Canada, individually or altogether.

I guess when I write this review, I’m thinking of my experience with Shaw cable and internet service in Vancouver, since that’s where I live, but I’m hopeful that my experience is not unique. Shaw is really really great. I’ll admit that after our hugely disappointing experience with Telus internet service, the Telus customer service reps, and then the billing department, that my standards for good service were probably low. But from my very first encounter with Shaw, which is now back in August of 2007, I’ve been hugely publicly supportive of this company. Every interaction I have with a representative is pleasant, whenever I need physical technical support they are available right away, and each technician I have encountered so far has been friendly, helpful and informative. They come when they say they will and are very efficient.
I don’t suppose I am really a brand evangelist for too many things, least of all a cable company, but I feel that Shaw should be recognized for their great customer service, and their products as well. While I do not work for Shaw and never have, I do plan to buy shares in the company very soon, and as long as the service remains excellent I will probably never sell them.
So Kudos Shaw! Not many cable companies deserve the kind of respect I am showing here. Now hurry up and offer cellular service so I can dump my current provider.
