We have been twice to this store and so far we are impressed. This is ‘Safe-On-Foods’ as we know it. It is a pleasure to browse through the store: the presentation is flawless, the produce fresh and staff always friendly and helpful. One minor disappointment is that we were twice out of luck to get our ‘Trifle’ as we were too early the first time we visited(9am) when it wasn’t prepared yet and too late the second time(5pm) when it was sold out already. Bad luck for us ;) I was hoping for a similar experience with the Cochrane store when they took over the local ‘Sobeys’ but even after one year they never made it even close to this one. Sadly this store is just too far away to become a regular one for us.

I used to shop at save on foods in Burnaby when I lived there and was looking forward to having the grocery chain come to Calgary. But I’ve been disappointed so far. I keep getting their flyers and thought one Saturday I’d drive across town(nearest one to me is in Panatella). Not a short drive. Anyways, the flyer shows they have these meals on special each day of the week. Saturday night was prime rib dinner. Yumm. So I head on over. The special is from 4−8pm. I arrive around 7ish. They are completely sold out. So I talk to a manager named Dave. He apologizes and gives me a rain check to come back any day of the week and I can get the prime rib special. They make it every day. So next I call ahead and ask if they have any and guess what folks, I’m told no they don’t make it every day, only on Saturdays for the special. Well that’s not what Dave told me I say to the manager Greg. He apologizes for the wrong information and tells me next time to call ahead and he’ll make sure they have some for me. I’m just glad I didn’t drive across town to get a big bowl of nothing again. So far Save on Foods hasn’t been kind to me and at this rate I’m not sure I’ll waste any more time trying to shop here. Sobey’s is right across the street from me.

I moved from Edmonton in July 2013 and I was sad that there were no Save On Foods in Calgary… And then to find out one was coming to a neighbourhood near me I was thrilled! This location is very nice, clean, and has lots of neat stuff. A lot of healthy, clean eating, and organic selections. A good selection in the butcher case and some neat breads and buns in the bakery. I had the Popeye pizza from their stone oven the other day — for $ 10 this medium pizza was huge! Big enough for two people! Highly recommend this location.

In my opinion, this is not your average grocery store. I could never before have imagined I would dole out 5 stars for this kind of establishment but why not! I could have spent the whole day here! It is brand new, inviting, CLEAN with friendly, helpful staff all over the store. If you ever needed help here, it is not one of those ghost town businesses. They are right there and seem to care about your experience. Managers included. Ray at the meat counter, you were a highlight. I loved your enthusiasm towards your products and your samples were fantastic. You even introduced me to a new sausage that I have never had before.(black bean, interesting) We bought more than we bargained for here, just because you were awesome and the prices were right. Produce — fresh. I cannot stand when I go to grocery stores and see expired, rotting fruit. You will not find that here. I also love the lighting and how things are displayed. Holy bulk items! I was in heaven just looking at them all! Great candy selection! Lots of cool, local products can be found here and there were some sample stations for gluten free pizza and flax seed. The bakery had a great selection and everything smelled so good! The whole vibe just feels upscale, comparable in my experience to Whole Foods when I was visiting San Antonio. I love Whole Foods. I am not one to usually buy from the deli section but they had their Sunday night special going(starts at 4pm) and they were serving up some incredible smoked turkey legs and breast. The cook even asked me to try it as he was prepping it! It was very good, nice and smoky.($ 10 per meal) We did not opt for this but we picked up some amazing looking perogies, ready to eat. If you are looking for a quick lunch, drop in here. The sandwiches at the deli counter appear as if to die for. There is a signature BLT sandwich that I will come back here for. I could go on and on but I will finish by saying I adore self check out so we were happy to use this option and make sure you stop at customer service at the storefront and grab a FREE savings card for Save-On-Foods. We got one and used it right away. Easy peasy. And they do accept coupons here. This place is not too far from home and there is a ton of parking. I will now be more than happy to drive past several other grocery stores to shop at this one.

I love this store. The look and feel of it are pretty cool and the selection is refreshing(some farmer’s market-type stuff). Much more than that, I am really impressed with the staff. Every time I’ve had contact with any of the employees there, they have been a shining example of what customer service looks like. Whoever did the hiring here deserves some kudos because the service is consistently outstanding.

I used to live in Edmonton and was quite a fan of Save-On-Foods so was pleased to hear they’d opened a store in Calgary. I stopped by the other night and was underwhelmed. Yes the store is new and aesthetically it’s quite nice. The displays look good, the aisles are wide but that’s about it. I thought it had a very poor selection of pretty much everything. Produce, deli, meat, bakery… all had relatively few choices. Back to Co-Op for me.
