I love the concept of Rogue. I’ve been addicted to bicycles for my entire life and have spent years upon years sharing the good cycle word with anyone who would listen that«No! You don’t have to shave your legs to ride a bike. You don’t have to be decked from head to toe in the tightest, brightest spandex this world has ever seen. Did you know, good people of Calgary, you can just ride a bike?» Imagine my joy when I discovered that Calgary has it’s very own cycle store that specializes in this very thing. Today’s fashion that you can look cool in anywhere, with some slight modifications to help keep bike addicted life rolling smooth. «Dale, you must have spent ALL your money here!» To be honest with you, I’ve tried and I’ve been less than successful. Here’s why: For a niche store, I’d expect way deeper depth in the products they carry. They’ve got Chrome messenger bags that are handmade in San Francisco. These things are the bomb and you want one! I wanted one, but I was surprised to find that they really didn’t have a more in depth selection than bow cycle or BikeBike. Both of whom carry clothing but neither would claim to specialize in boutique bike apparel. I wound up finding the Chrome bag I wanted elsewhere. I bought a Levi’s Commuter Denim Jacket from Rogue and this thing is awesome. It looks great off the bike and rides comfortable on, as well as has some discreet reflectors to keep you safe. I like it so much that I went back 6 months later see what else they had got in. Unfortunately, not much. From the fall to the spring it looked as if Rogue had pretty much the exact same product set. Rogue might be in a tough situation. Being the first of their kind in Calgary, it may be difficult to move enough product to keep things fresh and justify a deep inventory of the few brands they carry. But on the other hand, if don’t carry products that I couldn’t find elsewhere, what’s to draw me to the store?
