Horrible!!! Your bar staff does not have any people skills… rude and ignorant… it’s too bad I liked your pub but after the experience I had with your staff I will be telling everyone I know not to go to your pub! I suggest before u treat someone the way I was treated you know who your dealing with first. Oh well your staff is gonna be the epic fail that you call a pub. What goes around comes around. It made me give you a star rating if I had my choice I wouldn’t have rated it at all. Worst staff ever!!!

I haven’t tried the food here, but I went last night(on a Friday) and it was karaōke night, such a fun time. I was trying to find a song I wanted to sing and one of the waitresses were very helpful in helping me look. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the song. But I sang another song and played some pool. Another waitress kept coming around with shots which was convenient as well. Great atmosphere! I definitely want to go here again! :)

There is something that continually and regularly draws me back to O’Sullivans Restaurant and Bar at noon. It’s a strange thing, as I have many restaurant choices during the day, including going downtown, to a myriad of second rate establishments to eat. So what makes me choose O’Sullivans? Quite frankly, it’s the cosy, unpretentious atmosphere, and the exceptional food that appeals to me. There is no fake or fraudulent fusion food here! No pretentious or phoney nouvelle offerings! Just authentic, genuine and wholesome food, prepared in the best home-style cooking manner. Solid, savory, scrumptious, tasty and mouth-watering meals. I suspect that is really why I come back all the time. It reminds me of the spirit and incarnation of the neighbourhood petit bistros of Paris, where I spent many congenial hours over lunch, haggling with my French business colleagues, lubricated with copious amounts of Beaujolais, years ago. And yes, there is a comfortable old world ambiance, with a four sided brick fireplace, dark painted wood wainscoting, and some well-known French art prints and Homesense artwork on the walls. So, while O“Sullivan’s does not offer Beaujolais, they do offer a small, but great value for money, selection of wine, by the glass, or the bottle. How can you go wrong, drinking a glass of Fish Hoek(usually described as the«art of simple excellence» — but then I’m biased as a former South African) from the Western Cape, in South Africa? Again, nothing pretentious, nothing outrageous, and no need for a cellar of 2000 vintage bottles! While there is no coquille saint-jacques, no sole grenobloise on the menu, who really cares, when their chicken quesadillas, shepard’s pie and chicken pot pies are exceptional. O’Sullivan’s market themselves as «genuine food and drink». I believe that they do just that! Go and visit the restaurant and bar. It’s the real thing. With a real and genuine owner, constantly checking on the customers, and with real and genuine buxom waitresses making you feel at home. Chaucer would have written about O’Sullivan’s in his Canterbury Tales, had he lived in this Century. There are no phony and false smiles greeting you at the front door, no teetering self-conscious juvenile hostesses on 6 inch pumps, practicing to become waitresses at Cowboys, and no need to wait for someone to stupidly lead you to a table. Just open the doors, read the«plats du jour» on the black board, find a table and you are set to experience O’Sullivan’s! The restaurant is in a strip mall just north of Chinook Centre. I don’t even know if the strip mall has a name. However, it’s easy to get to, and there’s lots of parking. I highly recommend this neighbourhood restaurant for business or pleasure, particularly if you are not trying to impress anyone!

Was searching for take out fish and chips — gross. Dripping in grease, more batter than fish, bland… I had read positive reviews elsewhere about their F&C but our meal literally had grease dripping from the fish. Waitress looked like she rolled out of bed — not very appealing/professional for any serving business. Oh well — it’s definitely not my kind of place — but it is for other’s, seemed to be kind of busy. My review is purely on the food quality — who knows — maybe it’s better for other items like beer? I won’t be back.

Oooh no. O’Sullivans on karaōke night… The singing. Make it stop. Hahaha! Bring ear plugs because its really loud and theres only the occassional good singer! The food here is pretty darn good, but the drinks are absolutely DISGUSTING and they’re quite expensive! But you do get drunk off them. So you just drink them fast until they start to taste better! The lady who calls up the next singer is quite funny and on halloween had a whole discussion about how the skeleton was touching his groin. LOL.

Honestly, after a bit of an ordeal with a restaurant in the building where I work, I was ready to give up writing reviews all together… until I realized I hadn’t reviewed O’Sullivan’s yet. This is one that I simply HAD to get out there. Okay, I’ll start with the bad news(cause there isn’t much of it) — one of the last times I went was on karaōke night, and I’m not a karaōke fan at the best of times, but on this occasion I was barraded by what must have been a series of the worst singers I’ve ever heard. As a matter of fact, my friend and I actually left much earlier than we wanted to, cause it was getting quite annoying. I’m sure this isn’t always the case, but… WOW. Out of the 6 or 7 we heard, only one could passably get on key or carry a tune(and she was our waitress, but more on that later.) The good news is, for all other intents and purposes O’Sullys is one of my favorite bars in Calgary. The food is good(and well priced), they have a great cheap wing night(it’s just unfortunate it’s on Mondays when I’m usually busy), there’s almost always a pool table open for those who are into that sorta thing, the atmosphere is great, the location is convenient, and the service, well… ah, screw it, I’m giving that it’s own paragraph. I’ve only been here a handful of times and all but once we had the same server. The most recent was a girl I genuinely felt bad for as almost my entire group was just ordering water, and on a fairly busy night I can’t really fault her for focusing more on the other tables. However, the server I’ve had all the other times was an absolutely AMAZING young lady named Rebecca. She was not only fast and friendly, but charming, personal and… okay, forgive me for a total man moment here… but GORGEOUS(and not blonde, contrary to what dinah said earlier, lol). On every other night we’d been there, she took an already perfectly fine experience and made it a great one. She really took the time to make us feel welcome, joined in on our conversations briefly with each trip, and even took the time to apologize for the fact that she might be a minute or two late with our next round(which, if she was, we didn’t notice) because her turn at karaōke was next. Wouldn’t ya know it, the girl could sing, too! If she’s any indication of the hiring practices here, I have no doubt they’re all great. I will definitely be coming back to O’Sullys many more times… and looking for our usual bubbly, upbeat server as well. It’s rare to find a great bar with good food, and such awesome service… but I’ll probably steer clear of karaōke night.

The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. I had the beef dip and it was the best beef dip I had ever tasted. The bun tasted as if it was fresh from the bakery and the beef was heavenly.

O’Sullivans! I used to work here as a dishwasher. Waitresses are all hot! Food is ok. Nothing special. Usually have daily drink specials or food specials. Washrooms are ridicious! Guys bathroom has one stall and a urinal, but the door to stall opens right into anyone standing at the urinal. Good luck. Whoever designed the guys washroom = FAIL. Karoake is 3 – 4 nights a week. Usually loud and good for a laugh.

From the outside, this place doesn’t look like anything special. But from the moment you walk in and are welcomed by a super hot wait staff, until the moment you clean your plate to the last morsel, I’d have to say that O’Sullivan’s is one of Calgary’s best kept pub secrets. Whether you’re into karaōke, slot machines, beautiful servers, beer or amazing food, O’Sullivan’s proves to have a little something for everyone. The evening that I went with a friend, it wasn’t so busy that we couldn’t hear each other speak, but it wasn’t so dead that we felt like loners in a bar. The crowd was mixed, composed of students, professionals and elders alike, and the vibe was inviting and laid-back. I’m surprised I hadn’t discovered this place until just this week. Now that I have however, frequent visits will most definitely be finding their way onto my ‘To Do’ list.

I swear that in order to get a waitressing job here you have to be blond and look great in a black mini! O’Sullivan’s totally surprised me; I came here with my cousin for lunch one day to an empty normal looking bar and in thirty minutes flat the place was full. HUH??? This is a larger bar too with a row of slot machines in one corner, a quaint fireplace and an area for playing pool. And did I mention that the staff here is blond, pretty and hot … and really nice. I had the order of fish and chips and my cousin had the skewered shrimp and let me tell you folks I was far from disappointed. My fish platter was overflowing with fries and 3 huge fish filets. They were crispy and tender on the inside and although the tartar sauce could use some lemon zing, I was really satisfied. My cousin’s order was well presented as well; a nice skewer of huge jumbo shrimp and a sh** load of fresh potato wedges. We were like is this a bar or a restaurant? Now I could understand the huge lunch crowd in here. And what a prime location, being so near to Chinook, I am sure the employees just pour in here for the food and did I mention the wait staff being hot? The menu is really quite impressive; including a nice selection of steak with different tantalizing add ons. There are also three nights of karaōke here, Monday night cheap wings and Sunday all day happy hour. If I do come back here and I definitely will, it will not be for the beer, nor the sports on the TV screens, nor even the hot wait staff, but the amazing food!

I had a friend who lived right by this bar, so there were a few times where this was our watering hole for the night. It’s an interesting bar, especially when you consider its locale: right by Chinook mall. It’s a pretty Southerly bar, and yet it sees a decent amount of foot traffic. On friday nights they have cheap pitchers and Karaōke, which no doubt contributes to their varied clientele. Guys in for a night of pool, girls pre-drinking in all their club finery, and of course the karaōke stars. The karaōke part is perhaps the most interesting, as the bar is broken into almost two sections. If you sit near the back, as long as there is no atrocious caterwauling you can barely tell that there is karaōke at all! The food here is pretty decent for pub grub, though not much different from the norm. Wings, Nachos and ribs are all common sights on the menu… Overall, O’Sullivans is a solid neighborhood pub and sports bar, with some hilarious additions and good drink specials. It’s a good place for a decent night in.
