Minit Lube

Went there for the first time to get an oil change for my truck. AJ was very friendly and helpful and I was in and out in less than 30 mins. I was expecting some «up selling» but I got exactly what I asked for with no hassle. I’ll definitely go back again.

I’ve been going here for many years with many vehicles and have had nothing but great experiences. I’ve never had a problem and the people are always friendly. Justin always treats me well and remembers me when I come in. Had to wait a bit to get my transmission fluid changed only because they were doing others as well and had to wait for the machine. That just speaks to the quality if there’s a line up. During the wait I was, more than once, offered coffee and a paper to read and was free to watch what they were doing. Go see Justin and the team, they will take care of you!
I drive from the north east to go here and I will continue to do so.

May 27, 2015 my wife visited Minit Lube at 8511 Macleod Trail, Calgary.
A simple oil change was requested, with both oil and filter supplied.
End cost was $ 52.44 for 20 minutes of work. Concerned that a pricing mistake had been made or perhaps a gal taken advantage of, I called the location asking to speak to a manager to explain the charges. As no one was available, I left my name and number to have the call returned.
A week passed with no return call.
With no response, I sent an email to the manager as listed on the web. I was contacted the following day by phone.
Based upon my questions, that is indeed a normal charge for an oil and filter change when the customer brings in their oil. Cost for Minit Lube supplied filter and oil is quoted at $ 60.00
Asked and answered, their labour rate is $ 132.00 hourly for a non-​skilled technician, almost exactly what a licensed mechanic or dealer would charge.
Can I recommend Minit Lube as a preferred service facility, absolutely not? I highly doubt they pay their service people commensurate wages with a technician who has 4 years of training and experience.
Buyer beware !!!

This was my first time at Minit Lube. Can’t help to be very impressed, the boys were very helpful and friendly. I was in and out in under 20 minutes, far cry from all day wasted at the dealership last time… I will gladly continue to use them in the future.

Let me start off by saying I usually do my own oil changes, so I figured I would treat myself and get it done by someone else (this was in March.)
When I drove up, there were lots of cars waiting at all of the bays but the staff seemed to manage the traffic pretty well. I was offered a newspaper while I waited which was a nice touch.
The on-​site service went off with out a hitch. I really liked the fact that I was able to bring my own oil and oil filter for them to use (albeit there was a service charge for this.)
Now we get onto the SUPER bad. I go to do the next oil change by myself and find that I just can’t get the oil filter off. I noticed that the oil filter was already a bit stripped before I even tried to take it off. I will add that I was using an actual oil filter wrench and various other tools without any success.
I spent about 3 hours trying to get the oil filter off but I was unable to. Oil filters should be hand tightened on, but obviously this did not happen…
I was forced to take my car to an actual mechanic. It took the mechanic about 2 hours to get the oil filter off without damaging anything else.
So needless to say the front end service you receive is great at this location, but the work they do below is just pathetic. I wonder how many other people they have done this to?
Either way, avoid avoid avoid.

The service was friendly, quick and I even got a special rebate as I had to bring the oil-​filter by myself (it was not in stock).
I will come again :)
