Counselling services are provided for individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. We have a Registered Counsellor and Play Therapist specializing in divorce and separation issues, anxiety and trauma. Bow Valley Counselling is comfortable treating a variety of issues and we welcome ethnic, sexual and spiritual diversity.

History

Established in 2011.

Bow Valley Counseling began with the partnership between Carol Daw, Registered Clinical Social Worker and Family Mediator, and Lurline Ketler-​Raposo, Registered Counsellor and Play Therapist. After a year of operation, the partners acquired Family Life Works Inc., a training and facilitation company specializing in workshops focused on divorce and separation transition. Eventually, the office was divided into a north and south location with Carol keeping the original Kensington location and Lurline opening her new location in the south.

Business Owner

Lurline has a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and she is registered as a Counsellor and Play Therapist. She has been working with children/​teens and families for over 20 years. Lurline has advanced training in a variety of therapeutic counselling methods to effectively treat a wide array of emotional or relationship difficulties. She draws from advanced post-​graduate training in evidence-​based interventions such as sandplay, art, traumatic incident reduction (TIR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Gottman Couples, attachment-​based therapy, and emotion-​focused therapy (EFT) in order to support her work with clients of all ages.
