The company I work for is having a «winter gala» after Christmas so I hit the mall looking for a cocktail dress. Bonus points if it was on sale! Le Château was having a sale so I decided to stop in. They have a huge array of cocktail dresses and some were in fact on sale. This is a tiny store and they have it PACKED. Many of the racks were so packed it was impossible to browse. I managed to find a few dresses to try & headed to the dressing room. One of the 4 ladies working knew I was in the change room but no one came to check. I had to leave the dressing room to find myself another size. I persevered b/c it was a good deal at 50% off. After finding the dress I wanted, I decided to buy some accessories. The racks were jammed and almost impossible to turn. Regardless, I was able to find a bracelet and earrings. Great, right? Nope. The bracelet had no SKU so she couldn’t ring it in. She then tried to look it up on the internet, ran through about 20 random SKU stickers laying on the counter, and called 2 other stores. Still no SKU. By this time I had been waiting for almost 20 minutes. Not cool. You could tell that their management had told them never to ring in anything without a SKU and no one in the store was empowered to make a call about the price. I finally said«Never mind, I won’t buy the bracelet.» She then decided that she would risk getting in trouble and scanned another similar bracelet instead. Companies need to realize that you have to give your employees some amount of power(or make sure someone with power is there at all times). Other wise the only person that suffers is the customer. I will think long & hard before going back to this store.
