I love Fruiticana Are you looking for new and exotic spices? Maybe fresh fruit and veg? Or perhaps some cosmetics? Or maybe some ‘holy water’ from India? This place has it all. I feel like this isn’t your standard grocery store. It’s more of a shopping treasure hunt! They even have a sweets counter and hot samosas! I recommend the Jalebi(glorious sweet rose water delights) and the gulab jamun(sweet cake balls). Don’t hesitate to go in. Just do it! You will be glad you did. Enjoy!

This place might have everything that you need for Indian grocery but they are pretty much looters. Ridiculous prices!!! I used to go there when I was new in the city but not anymore. If someone wants to check it out go there and buy the curry leaves from this store and then go to ‘OK general foods’ right opposite and buy curry leaves from there and see the difference. This is just an example. There is nothing in the store that is less priced in comparison to the other indian grocery stores in the area. Their NW location is equally ridiculous.

Two words for you: Gong Show. But in a good way… hear me out. Fruiticana is an Indian grocery store in the N.E.(of course), and it’s INSANITY. It’s ALWAYS packed, it’s ALWAYS flooded with people going the wrong way, it’s ALWAYS noisy, but it’s ALWAYS fun! The service is useless, but they carry EVERYTHING. Pressure cookers, Indian spices, Indian biscuits, oakra, tarrow root, all the delicious(and ridiculously cheap) produce you could imagine, roasted lentils, raw lentils, chutneys, frozen foods, paranthe, Indian movies, Indian snacks, Indian desserts, YOUNAMEIT. When you wander in, you’ll feel like you’ve wandered into a store in India. Nothing seems organized, but somehow, it just works. They truly do have an outstanding selection of food and goods and the prices are some of the cheapest in the city. If you’re an Indian desserts fan, I highly recommend making your way to their freezer section and picking up a box(or two) of the Nanak frozen Ras Milai. It’s the best Ras Milai I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for any type of Indian ingredient, produce or kitchen utensil, Fruiticana will have it. As a general rule, disorganization and crowds make me frustrated and claustrophobic, but for some reason, I don’t mind it all in this store. You know where the exit is, so if it gets overwhelming, you can leave, and the good news is that you’ll have the bags(and then some) to prove you made it out alive :)
