Forage is a take-​out shop located in Marda Loop that focuses on ready to eat foods made with a majority of local foods from sustainable farms. We have created a network of over 40 Alberta farms that we draw from throughout the year and create our weekly menus based on supply, variety, and even the weather. Wednesdays are Vegetarian Special days and on Friday we offer Roast Organic Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. Thursdays are our Main Couse Salad Days — May long weekend through Thanksgiving. Along with our Daily Specials we offer fresh baking, ready to heat meals, fresh produce, frozen meals, and a selection of local ‘gourmet’ foods.

I really, really wanted to love Forage. I am a huge supporter of local, sustainable ‘farm to fork’ food. Which is why I was so excited to try Forage for a homemade, take out meal this week.
There is certainly a lot to be impressed about. For one, the serving size is pretty large. A ‘single’ order fed me for 3 meals! They also had great customer service, I noticed several customers being called by name. I certainly see the appeal of stopping by Forage on your way home from work when you just aren’t in the mood to cook.
On the flip side, I wasn’t blown away by the food, and it isn’t cheap. I suffered extreme heartburn every time I ate my chicken cacciatore. The chicken was dry, and I wasn’t overwhelmed with flavour.
BUT — I’m always game for a second chances. I’ll be back, and hope that I fall in love with Forage next time!

Seems a bit pricey but then again your paying for mostly organic and local.

Menu changes so you have to wait for the weeks of your faves!
Price. Daily specials are a bit pricey but fridge salads are priced low.
Bottom line… Great place with new and delicious food ideas made local and fresh, save your pennies but the taste is worth it!
