Elite Event at Mango Shiva

This event was pure awesome! It was my first elite event and it was very memorable! Great people, Great drinks and great food! and I was very pleased to see and hear the live music, it certainly upped the exotic factor!
When I walked in i was quite impressed with the set up. Mango shiva is a great chill party zone with a definite «chic» factor. The food was great, lots of things to choose from and everything was made in smaller batches and replenished accordingly.(quality buffet style) I kind of pigged out on the muscles (delicious!) and a good amount of naan! I see everyone talking about the «mules» I only wish I would have tried one! I guess I should not have labeled it a lady drink, silly me!
When I walked down to the bowels of the restaurant I discovered I nice little set up of free Unilocal stuff set up by the bathrooms! I was very pleased to see Unilocal bottle openers and trinkets for the taking! a couple days before I couldn’t even find an opener to open a couple of corona’s! So those were a nice bonus! I also took some Unilocal lip balm! The bathrooms were intense! very nice! and I thought it was hilarious that they had a massive laundry basket full of napkins to dry our hands, yes I actually let out a laugh (or a Unilocal!) when I saw those napkins hahaha.
I cant wait till the next event! Any time you leave a place with helium filled balloons it always means it was a great night!

I received an invite to the event at Mango Shiva. I’ve never been, but love fusion food, so I was pretty excited to go, not to mention meeting Unilocalers that I’ve never come across in person.
The food was delicious — although I struggled a little to find something I could eat as I am a pollo-​vegetarian. They were kind enough to put a menu on the table, but in the dark atmosphere, and when you’re not familiar with the menu items, it’s a little difficult to tell what was chicken and what was lamb. However, I didn’t let anyone know (they were a very busy crew!) so I do not fault anyone but myself. What I did eat was awesome — especially the naan and the potatoes + dip.
While the back end of the restaurant was not necessarily conducive to the mingling that a Unilocal event entails, overall it was a great event. I will definitely be back to try the new menu and I can recommend it to anyone thinking about giving it a go.

Local Unilocalers had the priviledge of sampling the new spring menu at Mango Shiva and it was such an amazing evening all the way around.
When I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly Cristal, who got myself and Kendra checked in, orientated and of course, we collected some delightful swag, which consisted of a clever little bag, with a daisy, Unilocal badge and sugar free mints. Great touch! I love Unilocal swag!
Then, as I worked my way into the venue, I could hear delightful musicians that were creating not only music, but ambiance.
when I moved into our Unilocal section, the spring menu samplers were amazing. My favorite were the mini lamb burgers made with naan bread, as well as the spicy shrimps. everything I tried was amazing, but those were the two that stood out as extra delicious! Mango Shiva was generous enough to offer us a few drink samples as well.
The best touch was the Free Hug on my Unilocal app that popped up when I checked in. Clever ladies! I love it!

Embarrassingly missing the first Calgary elite event at Higher Ground *blush* made this gathering a blessing in disguise as I couldn’t have picked a better event at where to lose my proverbial Unilocal virginity.
I’ve always liked Mango Shiva’s food, so I was excited with this location. The restaurants’ ability to mix classic Indian flavors in a palatable North American way is a game changer in this city. We got the chance to sample their new Spring menu and everything we ate was very nice, fresh and flavourful. I would recommend that you make a reservation to try the new menu in the next few months.
The restaurant also offered us free drinks (always attractive) and their selection of cocktails was interesting and fun. Of the two that I tried, the ginger beer cocktail was much more interesting than the rosewater martini which reminded me of my hippy cousin’s bath water (she used to bathe in rosewater when we were roommates)…because of this personal tick, I stuck to the ginger beer cocktail most of the night which is sparkly, rich and hard not to drink too fast.
Wendy organized a nice event where I got the chance to meet some fun people; talk about everything from the rise of China as a superpower to pocket squares; get some delicately elegant henna painted on my hands and listen to a beautifully decorated and talented grouping of musicians play throughout the night.

This was my second Unilocal event and I was most excited to try the food at Mango Shiva — and I wasn’t disappointed.
First of all, I checked their website before the event and was stoked to find out there was a bunch of free parking after 6pm on the street and also cheap parking at Banker’s Hall. For me, the last thing I want to worry about when I go somewhere is the parking so this was a big relief.
When we got there, we were greeted at the front by a friendly Unilocaler and I was immediately impressed with the venue. It totally matched what I thought the restaurant was going to be and made me feel at ease with everyone right away.
We sat down and I loved how comfortable the bench seats were. Not only were the seats super soft but there was a bunch of pillows you could use also.
When Wendy announced that we were going to get to try their Spring menu, I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially since I’m a Flexatarian (mostly vegetarian but I eat fish and will eat meat once in a while). I ate the shrimp, naan bread, potatoes and rice and wow was it delicious. The shrimp had spice in the sauce but it wasn’t too strong (I’m a wussy when it comes to spice).
I will definitely be going back to eat there — the atmosphere, the food and the parking/​location all make for a great spot to eat (and go on a date!)

Getting ready for the event, I re-​skimmed the email and noticed the «Festival of Colors» mention. Then I looked at what I was wearing. Black dress, black shoes, grey leggings. *the boy’s a time bomb!* So I packed more colors on my eyelids (I think I managed to get about 6 in there), slashed on some blush and slapped a flower on my hair as I went out the door. Is it any wonder my doppelgänger is a drag queen?
Mango Shiva has a special place in my heart for putting together a plate of vegan deliciousness for Sarah Louise and me (BTW, thanks Sarah Louise for telling them! xoxo). I was all set to fill up on potatoes, papadums and rice so I could get a nice booze sponge going. I didn’t try the Mumbai Mule; even though Arc offered me a sip of his, but I did try something that had Mango and vodka in it, followed by a pomegranate and rosewater martini. I preferred the Mango vodka concoction. Bathrooms were a tricky business, when I went in to two and both had urinals. I was told later that the ones with drawings of men on the door were for boys! Crystal and Wendy were awesome as per usual (when is the Wendy Overlord not awesome?), and everyone I got the chance to talk to was just as cool as their reviews. Oh, and Susan gave me the prettiest henna flowers on my right hand: D. I smelled like a lavender meadow afterward.
The only downside was forgetting my purse at the venue, but apparently a staff member tried to chase Wendy down the street to give it to her, hahahaha! Picking it up later today.

Im going to make this a real quicky!

I thought the food was spicy and deliciously different. What a nice change from the usual indian food resturant.
The new cocktail selection is beyond amazing.
The pomogranate and rose water martini. awesome. But the most amazing item of the night was the Ginger Mule cocktail! Tons of lime, gingerbeer and vodka. So fresh!
I have one last comment that has to do with the Unilocalers… I am always amazed how put together everyone is. The cutsie dresses, the pocket squares, the glitter! Y’all look FABULOUS!
I will be back to Mango Shiva with more friends… I think the place is Hot Hot Hot

This event was wonderful.
I was initially apprehensive about the food (it all looked soooo good, but so very unvegan), but this nervousness was remedied when Kam, the owner came over and offered to put together a special little plate of vegan friendly food; baked samosas, chickpeas, veggie pakoras, potatoes, etc. I was floored by how accomodating these lovely people were.
I also loved the cocktails we were greeted with, but my very favourite was one we ordered after, called the Mumbai Mules. Unreeeal. I want to go home and make more Mumbia Mules. Zomgz so many Mumbai Mules.
Mango Shiva has such a beautiful, warm environment; shadows of lanterns dancing off the walls, warm colours, cozy little nooks to sit. I adore it. I will definitely be back on my own time.

Well, this was my first event, and while I wasn’t nervous, I was definitely not sure what to expect. It was awesome! Wendy and Crystal were very friendly, accomodating. All around fantastic hostesses.
The music was cool, the food was good (although I wolfed, and did not taste), and the bar was open! Those Mumbai Mules, a ginger beer concoction, were unreal as someone else said.
I also got to meet fellow Unilocalers, and let me tell you, I’d have met more if I wasn’t feeling a mite bit sickly. Next time.

This was my first Unilocal event and I loved it!
The venue was excellent to say the least! The food was delicious, the cocktails were amazing, and the staff were so friendly, polite and accommodating! They even offered to bring our cocktails to the table after we ordered them at the bar! What great service!
The musicians were definitely out of this world too. All in all, a great event. GREAT job Unilocal,Wendy and Crystal! Absolutely fabulous organization — everything was well thought out, everything!
(I just wish I spoke to more people… Maybe next time!)

Loved the venue, very Indian chic! Food was great, especially the muscles. The mules were no slouches either and very refreshing. And I love the washroom situation, it challenges you to think about it and reconstruct your world while being further challenged to make that construction expeditiously. After all nature is calling. Or I suppose you could just go into any room and realize that you might be in the wrong one. Either way it’s a story!

What a great event!
First of all, the ambiance has always been beautiful at Mango Shiva, and tonight was no exception. We were greeted by the beautiful Crystal from Unilocal Canada who was dressed very appropriately to fit the theme and was incredibly informative about what we should expect of the evening. We then found our hostess with the mostess, Wendy, who jumped in with both feet and even wore a gorgeous Sari for the evening.
The drinks were free, generously poured and DELISH!
We were invited to experience the new dishes that Mango Shiva would be introducing and they were all marvelous. The stand out for this carb lover was the potato dish. YUM!
Our night was also enhanced by the beautiful musical artists who created a nice environment for the guests of the event. Another surprising treat was the henna applications that were provided by Susan, who created henna masterpieces on willing guests. She was very intuitive and created designs that were perfect for each recipient.
Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the great swag that we snagged… luscious lip balm, key chains and yummy mints.
Great job Unilocal!

I really enjoyed tonight’s event. The food was excellent and the variety of complimentary beverages was wonderful. The service was wonderful as well, and I remember Cody would always check on us to ensure we were happy and to get us more drinks.
If the food was a sample of their new Spring Menu, I’m really excited when it rolls out live. I’ll definitely come back for that!
As for the venue, the atmosphere was great. When it was packed near the beginning, it was difficult to move around, and I didn’t envy the staff who had to navigate from the kitchens to get to the regular customers in front, and it was hard to find a seat. Could have used more stand up tables but I can see how space could be a limiting factor. Regardless though, the staff were always friendly and the service was awesome.
Still though, it was a great venue, the music was fantastic, and overall, I had a blast. Big thanks to Mango Shiva, Wendy P. & Crystal H. for putting it on!

Wow these events just keeps getting better and better! Kudos to the great music.
