Downtown Self-Storage

July ’11 to February ’12. That marks the time of my tenancy at Downtown Self Storage. I needed something that was accessible. As far as self storage places go, I haven’t got anything to compare these guys to, but my experience during my months of rent were positive.
I can’t remember the dimensions of my locker, it was about the size of the storage room in my apartment and cost me around $ 65/​month. You can go in and pay every month, or set up a recurring payment on your credit card (which is great if you want to avoid the $ 10 late fee charge if you don’t make it down in time for the first of the month). You need to provide your own lock, and you cannot move your stuff in until said lock is with you.
The area is secure, you’ve got to sign in and sign out to gain access to your storage locker and you cannot enter your locker more than 4 times per month. The explanation was to keep the number of people coming through the place to a minimum being that lots of companies seem to use them as storage.
There’s a nice big loading dock to bring your belongings into and a couple of large carts you can use to ship your stuff from the loading dock to your locker. The guys in the office are also nice. Not once did I have any issues when paying rent, attempting access to my locker, etc. If other people need access as well, you can set them up on your account and have them sign in or out as well.
What ended my tenancy? Well, I moved from an apartment to a house with a garage… not so much the need for extra space anymore.

I didn’t realize that there was a storage space downtown just minutes from the Calgary Tower.
There is a nice loading dock that fits two or three vehicles, and there are over 18 storage spaces from 4×4×3 to 10×20×8 feet. Prices range from 25 dollars to 317 dollars a month and the great part is if you sign a lease for 1 year then you only have to pay 11 months.
They also have fax services, box rentals, mail forwarding, and warehouse servicing and packing supplies. At the front of the storage area is mini garage sale of things that people have left at the self storage, items like knapsacks, shoes, books, DVDs and electronic equipment.
The place seems like a warehouse but its clean and the attendant is pleasant.
