$ 10 per child age 6 months or older is just too expensive of an admission price for what you’re getting at coffee and s’cream. It’s basically just a big room full of plastic little tykes play sets and a bunch of(not the cleanest) toys. Although my 2.5 year old liked it and had a good time, we will not be back. There’s just better indoor playplaces at more reasonable admission prices in this city.

I love this place! Perfect for toddlers! The food is pretty good(I am Italian so judge yourself!) Maybe a quicker service would make it even better!

Coffee & S’cream is a great place for kids 5 and under. Even my now 6 year old still has fun there, kids always find new ways to play. The prices have gone up in the last couple years, it used to be quite reasonable but seems a bit more on the expensive side now. Even just the cost for entry to play, it’s a bit hard to compare pricing though as I am unsure of any other similar place for smaller children. The coffee is great and the treats and food are good as well. My daughter has tried most things on the kids menu and the food is super kid friendly as well as tasty! I even get the mac & cheese sometimes. Can be extremely busy and difficult to get a table in the play area sometimes. Going in the afternoon if you can I find is a bit less chaotic. I am sure they have a limit to the number of people and kids they let in but sometimes it seems far too jammed pack. My peeve as of late is the service. A few years ago it used to be amazing, now the young girl who works the counter acts as if it’s a bother to help you or take your order. She’s been a bit snarky at times too which is disappointing. The women who used to work the counter(the owners maybe? Unsure of names!) were the sweetest and genuinely nice. It lacks that now. Another great thing is typically how clean they keep it. Always coming into the play area to tidy, clean and sanitize toys and play equipment. Overall a great place for babies, toddlers & preK kiddos.

My 18 month old and I went to have a fun playdate at Coffee & S’cream, after having had a nice time here a few weeks back. Unfortunately, our experience was tainted after we accidentally«crashed» a birthday party going on inside. There were no signs posted, and an employee told us to go right in. After 5 minutes of dirty looks, I thought something funny might be up. It was confirmed when a female employee(perhaps the owner??) approached me and rudely asked«I’m not sure how you got in here, but you have to leave. There is a birthday party going on and you aren’t allowed to be here». An embarrassing and unnecessarily harsh approach in my opinion. Coupled with a few dirty looks upon leaving, we will definitely NOT be visiting this establishment again.

A great concept for parents and kids however I find this place is great for kids under 3. We took our son here quiet often before(age 2 – 3) and he always enjoyed himself. Since he is 4 now, I recently took him last week and he was quiet bored. He said there wasn’t much to do and I would agree with him. You can play in a kitchen just so much before it does get stale. They really need to update some of the toys as well as maybe add a play structure for pre-schoolers? Or something for kids to do who are over 3? The place is really catered for infants/babies and toddlers under 3. I thought I would try it out since it does state on their website for kids up to 6 years old? After being there for under 30 minutes and my child not having any fun, we decided to leave. He was quiet willing and couldn’t get his shoes on fast enough. The highlight was I did get a good cup of coffee, that I did get to drink on the way home. Its just too bad they haven’t really updated it or at least made new activities for pre-schoolers/school age kids. They should also change their website to say there is nothing for kids over 3 to do. Wont be going back.

We’ve been going to Coffee & Scream since January 2005… and the rules have changed quite a bit over the years… all for the safety of the patrons of course… but we kind of feel like we’ve been with them almost since the beginning :). Sonja and Perry(the owners) are just lovely and 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet. We’ve been to the Coffee & Scream Halloween parties during the earlier years, my son has had his birthday party there and many a coffee/playdates have been enjoyed in his place. Sonja & Perry have always been pleasant to deal with. The food is scrumptious and the ice cream super yummy. Now adays and since my lil girl is no longer allowed on the apparatus(to old) we tend to stop in more so for the treats, coffees or super delicious and large ice creams… although my boy is still enjoying dropping in for some screaming once in awhile ;) The only gripe I’ve ever had is not with the place directly but with the parents who think this is a place to drop your kids, have coffee with a friend and forget about your kids while they run amuck despite the rules to supervise your kids at all times while there. Unfortunately this doesn’t just happen here… it happens at other place as well. Thankfully coffee & scream enforces the rules quite well. Great place, great food, great service.

We were visiting from out of town and love the concept but the owner and one staff member were pretty short with us and needlessly so. The owner talked to me like I am an idiot and like she already assumed my kids would be monsters. She made my friend & I purchase socks for ourselves but none of the other parents were wearing socks(though, at $.50/pair, it was only the principle that irritated me). The young girl who worked there had scooped some ice cream for my sister and she was behind the counter walking around and then said to my sister, «Can I just give this to you? I need my arm back!» Really? How about you give her the ice cream and keep your rude comments to yourself? The last thing thy annoyed me was when my kids, my nephews and a number of other kids were playing, the owner came huffing out of the back and telling the kids to keep all the mats in place and then she started putting all the toys away. If the mats can’t be moved(not the floor mats, some other play stuff), then why put Velcro all over? We enjoyed this place but I think the owner could do with a chill pill.

Coffee is great, and it has a huge area for kids. Plus lots of different age related toys. Try the pastries as well.

Love this place and so do my kids… Its different in that it doesnt have the huge climbing structures(slides, ball pits, etc) that other indoor play areas may boast– however its quite large inside and my kids always enjoyed doing ‘laps’ in their little cars they provide. More catered to slightly younger kids for this reason(might get a bit boring for 4 year olds and up). Pretty good drinks/food available also for a play area.

I’ve taken my son to Coffee and Scream many times. It’s a great place to take toddlers and preschoolers and we always have lots of fun. I love that he can be so independent there at such a young age. It can get pretty busy particularly on Fridays mornings. The afternoons are always less busy than the mornings(it starts clearing out about 11:30). It opens really early(7am) and there’s hardly anyone there so if you have early risers, it’s a good option too. The kids menu has good made to order options(real mac and cheese nor KD) that kids would like eat and moms would like to order. And the prices for them are really reasonable. My favorite thing to order for both of us is the Egg screamer which is like a really good Egg Mcmuffin. They do offer WiFi but you need to ask for the code at the front. It is my favorite indoor play place for toddlers in Calgary.

Coffee and S’cream is one of the few places I like taking my kid to. It’s a fun place, great coffee, friendly staff and lots of friggen screaming. I usually find as a dude that I get stared at. Probably because the place is swimming in estrogen clad ladies. Needless to say it’s a fun place to let the kid run around. The only suggestion I’d have is to have some healthier options for snacks.

I will let you know right now that Coffee and S’cream might not be the best place for you if you do not enjoy the normal laughing, playing and yes, screaming of children. And it is CERTAINLY infested with many of the Bible College students that are at the Bible College down Northmount. I know because I used to be one of them. Regardless, this is a good place to get a hot chocolate or ice cream. Yes, I am a really a big kid at heart. Everything I have had here is to DIE for and I really love the Nanaimo bars! Keep up the good work!

Coffee and S’cream… how punny is that? It’s clever, and gives you an idea of what you’re in for when you visit this little coffee shop on Northland Drive. Not only is there a nice little seating are for the adults to enjoy a beverage and pastry, but there’s a play area they can throw their kids in to get a little ‘parent time.’ That must be nice for the parents who want to get out for a coffee, but can’t leave their kids alone. I’ve been in here a couple of times when out with a girlfriend who’s babysitting, but it’s not my top choice for a café. To be honest, children somewhat frighten me so I actually try to stay far away from here. I don’t need to hear children screaming and playing while I’m having coffee. It’s great for parents, but not for Lindsay’s. I think this is a great idea! I don’t have children, but if I did I’d probably take them here. It’s a good time for the parent and the child. Everyone(except Lindsay) wins at Coffee and S’cream!

I don’t have kids, but I still like to stop in here for an ice cream or coffee! The«S’cream» of Coffee and S’cream is quite contained, so anyone can go into the café part and enjoy their treats. The staff is awesome… many seem to posses a sly sense of humor.

Kids driving you crazy? Need some caffeine? Look no further as Coffee & S’cream knows exactly the right mix to make their patrons happy. The parents get to enjoy coffee and adult conversation, and the kidlets get to play on fun, safe play equipment. It’s a terrific concept, and you can barely hear the kids playing. But, only kids younger than 6 can play on the gym equipment, so go lots before your kids get too old!
