Yes, indeed. I’d been putting off ‘light shopping’ for our major reno project for weeks. I’d looked at the bigbox hardware stores and was unimpressed with the selection and underwhelmed with the service. Carrington is the nearest lighting store to our house. We stopped in there hoping it would be worth it. The selection is fantastic — and I do mean there are pieces there that are straight out of someone’s fantasies — really! And if you were alive in the 70’s the retro lights will either make you laugh or scare you silly! After doing the walk through to see what they have, and narrowing it down a bit, we stopped at the desk where it was our good fortune to find Jennifer. She’s a quiet woman who really knows her stuff. I sketched out our rough floorplan and described what I had envisioned. She very gently told me there were much better ideas available. Who knew? She gave us some really great advice, educated us about light fixtures, things to pay attention to, light bulbs — the whole works. In the end we purchased all five fixtures and a case of the special bulbs we liked. Would I shop there again? In a heartbeat. They are a little more expensive than the aforementioned bigbox stores, and they are worth every penny. Jennifer earned her paycheque with us today. Thanks Jennifer!

One of the frustrations of dealing with a home builder is you are usually stuck dealing with their vendor. Some times, this can be an enjoyable experience, other times it isn’t. The success all comes down to the people working at the business and whether or not they care about your choices. It comes down to this. How many businesses will actually care if they know they are getting paid regardless? Even some of the best companies I’ve dealt with would be unlikely to pass that test. Carrington, however, was a pleasant surprise. The woman we dealt with was fantastic and very thorough. She explained all the lights we were due to receive and how much credit we could received by upgrading. She also showed us all our cost-free options. We spent quite some time looking at all our options, and in the end we went with her suggestion. She also gave us some size upgrades at no additional cost. Like I said, pleasant surprise. Once the lights were installed at our not-yet-built home, something looked off so I picked up the phone to verify. She was very helpful and assured us that everything had been delivered as ordered. My fiancé verified that upon her arrival, and I came to realize I had confused myself. We would happily use Carrington again!

So other than being immediately blinded by all the lights upon entry of Carrington Lighting, this store is actually pretty cool. They’ve got some interesting designs, as well as some classics too. You can buy anything from bedsides lamps, to chandeliers, to outside fixtures… this place really does have it all. I recently went in to find new fixtures for my basement and was surprised by all the options I had. Luckily enough our saleswoman, Kayla, was very knowledgeable and was able to point us in the right direction. We couldn’t have been in there for more than ten minutes before finding a couple options we liked. Kayla made sure we knew which lights were best for basements and showed us all kinds of different ones. We ended up settling on some nice fixtures with a dimmer so we could set the mood. Without the help of the pleasant salespeople, I wouldn’t have even know where to start. This is definitely one of those places where the sales staff are welcome. Carrington fulfilled all my lighting needs and really, shall I say, brightened my day!
