Ordered a smoked brisket for a Bday party. Big D or T as the case may be really came through! Called ahead and was helped by Andrew, who listened to what I needed, and simply said he would have one put aside for me with my name on it. I was a little skeptical as he did not take a phone number. I showed up to pick it up and there the brisket was pulled from the warmer! Awesome! Price was a pleasant surprise too! The meat was delicious and a huge hit at the party. Should have taken a pic but was devoured before I thought of it! I have eaten at the location by McMahon Stdm — awesome. Also at the Blackfoot farmers Market Have yet to try the location in Deer Run. I am sure it is great also. Calgary has great bbq!

I can only review the breakfast sandwich. Egg, slaw, potato salad, beef brisket(cut on order) and cheese on an English muffin for $ 4? This thing is the size of 2 McMuffin/Tim’s breakfast sandwiches for the same price and has fresh smoked brisket, not some thawed faux-sausage trucked over from Ontario. This is currently a best-kept-secret in the underground Calgary breakfast sandwich community.

Best brisket in town. As a self confessed bbq addict, I am always trying all the bbq places looking for bbq heaven. This place is as close as you will come north of the border. Watching the juices run when Big D is slicing the brisket gives you an indication of the deliciousness you are in for. Try the brisket sandwich or my favorite, the bbq box with beans and slaw.

Big D’s is good BBQ! As Angelo T. so appropriately pointed out: the brisket is GREAT. The pulled pork? Not so much. It’s OKAY at best. The marinated cole slaw is really good, the corn bread is great and the fritters are EXCELLENT! Maybe even better than Chicken on the Way!(Did I just say that???) The service is okay. Not the friendliest. As you can see from Angelo’s review, maybe a tad bit … snotty? Come on! It’s BARBEQUE!!! But overall, well worth a stop if you are craving some smokey goodness!

I went back here to finally try one of their main showcase eats: the beef brisket. When I got in line I figured I’d go big and broke so I ordered the larger sandwich. They made me choose one out of three different breads. Finally when I came to face one of the lovely ladies to assemble my sandwich, I said«I’ll have everything except olives» and wow did I get a sermon of a lifetime. «I know you like to do the whole Subway thing. But with a meat like this, you wanna put as little as you can. Don’t throw away your hard earned money» RESPECT! I settled for a few pieces of Jalapenos and banana peppers. And painfully negotiated a few strands of coleslaw and raw onions. I also ordered a side of their beans and situated myself on the standing table right beside. I made small talk with everyone at the table and found that they were all having the brisket as well. We laughed at the coincidence and in unified silence, everyone watched as I unwrapped my sammich and took a bite out of it. It was allright… AREYOUKIDINGME? It a phantasm of supreme fatty beefy goodness. I was so blown away I instantly told everyone to stay away from my food because it was all mine-no I didn’t but I held on to that baby and danced with it for the next 10 minutes. Thanks Big D, for not disappointing me. I really should go back and get that lady’s name, she taught me an important lesson that day that I should pay her my respect. 11⁄30
