Downtown Integrative Health Group is a multi-​disciplinary health care centre focusing on the health needs of people living and working in downtown Calgary. The clinic is comprised of a team of experienced health care professionals who provide individualized and holistic treatment based on tradition and the latest scientific and clinical research.

History

Established in 1930.

Downtown Integrative Health Group began in the 1930’s as Calgary Chiropractic Clinic. In 2003 Dr. David Lawson, the clinic director and owner changed the name to Downtown Integrative Health Group to better reflect the expanded complementary and alternative health care options we provide. Our clinic is a model for integrated health care delivery, emphasizing preventative medicine and individualized care. Everything we do for our patients is guided by the clinic mission statement.

Dr. David L.

Business Owner

Dr. Lawson is proud to be part of Chiropractic’s history in Alberta. His «Great Uncle Will» and his aunt were two of the first chiropractors in western Canada. His father, Dr. Ross Lawson, practiced in downtown Calgary for 35 years and during that time was instrumental in establishing chiropractic as a Regulated Health Profession with the Government of Alberta. Dr. Lawson’s childhood impression of chiropractic lead him to decide to be a chiropractor at the age of 8. That goal was accomplished in 1978 when he graduated from the Toronto based Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, joining his father in his downtown practice until his death in 1985. In 2001 Dr. Lawson changed the clinic’s name from Calgary Chiropractic Clinic to Downtown Integrative Health Group, reflecting its expanding health services.
