I went with Advantage Moving when moving from our 1-bedroom condo to a house. I paid for a crew of two guys, for $ 85/hour. They don’t start charging until they arrive at your house which is better than most moving companies, from what I’ve heard. They were willing to move on a Sunday which was good. They were about 15 minutes late showing up, but I didn’t mind as I was a little late myself. The guys were friendly and said we were well prepared. They properly dealt with floor runners and everything. I felt that these guys were a little slow, and I’m not sure why. They said a 1-bedroom place normally takes 3 to 3.5 hours, but ours took 5.5 hours. I needed the to pick up some stuff at one house, then go our condo and take everything there, so that first trip took up 1 hour. Still, they were 1 hour slower than expected. The unloading went much faster than the loading, and they were willing to accomodate my request for certain things to be dropped off in the garage. One of the movers put a knee through the back of my IKEA bookcase(you know that cheap wood stuff). They took $ 25 off my total for this mistake. Overall, I thought Advantage was pretty decent. I was surprised by how long it took(and therefore how much it cost) and disappointed by the hole in the bookcase, but stuff happens when you move. It’s worth noting that they only accepted cash so we had to have lots on hand.

What can you say about movers? Assuming all your stuff gets there, and none of it’s broken, then it’s a job well done, right? Advantage Movers moved some things for me last week(I chose them based on their Unilocal recommendation and good Better Business Bureau rating). The guys were about twenty minutes late showing up, but they did move things quickly. The moving process has had lots of random people in my new house(the cable guy, the carpet cleaners, delivery people, etc.) and these guys were probably the least creepy of the lot– they didn’t ask me a bunch of personal questions or make me feel uncomfortable. The job was done in an appropriate amount of time and paying with cash or cheque was easy. I certainly don’t have a reason to complain, but in reality this Advantage Movers provided the basic level of service that we SHOULD be able to expect from any movers(if only…).

I just hired Advantage Moving to move some large pieces of furniture and I have nothing but great things to say about them. We had a very last minute move requirement and had to do it REALLY early on a Wednesday morning and I am SO thankful that my frantic Google search led me to their web page first. Advantage was accommodating, punctual, efficient, friendly and professional and their rates were incredibly reasonable. I’ve had some really horrible experiences with moving companies, so i’m really happy to have found a reliable company that I feel comfortable calling again and referring to friends. I will definitely be using them for all of my future moves.
