I have taken a number of Level 1 first aid and transportation endorsement courses from different companies over the past 8 years. St. John Ambulance is consistently good. I feel like I am really getting my money’s worth. The instructor I had for OFA Level 1 this time was Charlene. She was awesome. Sadly, this isn’t her permanent job, so she may not be around SJA for much longer, but I thought she was great. She explained how and why the techniques work, and gave thorough demonstrations. The Burnaby office has a new classroom, which is good. They can offer more classes now. The parking situation, however, is poor. They don’t have many spots dedicated to SJA, and parking on the road fills up fast. There is some meter parking on Dawson that is available for $ 4 for 12 hours, but is coin only, no cell phone pay option. If you have never taken OFA Level 1, do it. It’s worth it. Your certification lasts 3 years(new, used to be 2), and you will learn life saving skills. Everyone should take this course. You never know when you may need to use the skills you learn.
