I feel like I’ve been trying all the sushi restaurants in the area lately… So it’s kind of too bad that I’ve had an awesome experience just recently because I can’t help but compare them all. But to be fair, let’s do the goods and bads: Goods : — they offer a nice selection of bento boxes, which comes with«a bit of everything» :salad, rice +main(Tofu, pork, chicken, beef), rolls, and something else(gyoza, sashimi). — reasonably priced(seriously, the bento boxes average less than $ 8), that’s very competitive with the food court restaurants — free roasted rice tea — made to order Bads : — not that great of quality food or presentation — 6 seats in the whole place(4 on the counter and a tiny square table on the corner with 2 chairs. I was redesigning the place in my head, thinking of how they could use the space better. And they could… — the only sushi place in the mall, so really, if you feel like sushi in the midst of your shopping spree, you’ll likely end up here, although there are better places in the neighbourhood Not horrible, but not the best I’ve had. I’d probably come back if I really felt like sushi and happened to be here. But wouldn’t go out of my way to get here.

I have tried this place a number of times over the years so, it’s not a one off. This place had bad sushi period. The rice is ALWAYS slightly crunchy, the California rolls cost EXTRA to have avocado in them, which is what a California roll is. The dynamite roll has stale day old shrimp in it fried in old oil. The whole thing is just bad. Have something else if you’re in the mall and you’ll thank me.

After the disappointment of eating mediocre sushi elsewhere, I was pleasantly surprised with Sashimi Sushi in Lougheed Town Centre. Their sushi tastes great and the price is good too. I love their yam and avocado rolls and the veggie bento box is delicious too,

This place wouldn’t be my first choice for sushi and Japanese. Nor would it be my second. Or third… you get the point. However, I found myself at the mall meeting a few people for lunch and was hungry for some sushi. This is the only place in the mall that I know of for sushi. That’s unfortunate because both the food and the service are lacking. While I was there, it was actually kind of «busy» for late lunch time(around 1:45pm) but they were mixing the orders up as they called someone’s number but it wasn’t hers. They kind of seemed unfriendly when I dealt with them too. The sushi reminded me of the pre-packaged refrigerated sushi I used to get back in high school at the cafeteria. The difference is that this place made it fresh which really isn’t a good sign. The only up side is that they have free tea.

First of all, I don’t like sushi: P. so this review targets those who think that they can’t stand sushi, more than those who well established: D I don’t eat raw fish: S This place is the best sushi place in the area(I tried a few) and if you are a beginner, this is a good starting point for you: D so, if you are a person who hates avocado, salmon, tune, and wasabi like me, then you are in the right place. Go for the Dynamite rolls(it has shrimp Tempura and cucumber) this is something that will get you into the Sushi world safly: D the Dynamite rolls are a bit big(bigger than my mouth), so hide somewhere and have a piece at a time(it’s yuumer this way) and b/c it’s so messy if you try to split it into halves! I usually go for the Chicken Katsu Bento and replace the California rolls with A dynamite one … they are quite flexible in changing their menus. The Bento has a nice Salad with a magical dressing! And the whole bento is for $ 8, not bad to be honest! it’s a manly meal, trust me! On the down side, the sitting area is not that comfortable, so you might need to go and eat in the food court area(few steps away) I highly recommend the place!
