I’ve been going to this place for years now. Safeway is typically more expensive that Superstore or Walmart, so the lines are shorter and you can get in-and-out faster. However, after 10+ years of going to this location, I’ve decided today is the day I’m no longer shopping at Safeway. The reason? Tonight, my wife bought a pack of «fresh» noodles in the refrigerated section to prep for dinner. She opened the package this evening to find that the clump of noodles were covered in mold. At first, I thought perhaps the packaging was compromised, but nope, the expiry date was weeks ago. How does a moldy pack of expired noodles stay on their shelves in the refrigerated section for more than a week makes little sense to me. I wonder what other expired foods they leave on their shelves(meat, dairy?) and sell at full price. Their supply chain manager should find another job. Thanks Safeway for selling long-expired food to your customers. We will not be returning.

Came to this store as its close to my in laws and they want to pick up items for Air Miles Bonus. Most times, we ask the stock person if there are more elsewhere and its always no and most often find the items on sale sitting on carts right by the Customer Service Counter and not on the shelves.

The customer service is going downhill, especially in the deli. I waited for 5 minutes and no one came to greet me. So I shopped around and came back to the deli, waited another 5 minutes and a staff member finally approached me. She poorly made me a sandwich and walked away. I walked along the deli counter and saw the hot food. I waited around while 2 staff members had their backs to me. A few minutes go by and my baby started to fuss so I leave. I could have called them but I wanted to wait and see I’d anyone would greet me. Terrible service! I probably won’t come back to the deli for a sandwich, I’ll walk up to Subway.

I enjoy shopping for groceries at Safeway but I do not like the service received at the deli department. I don’t know what it is but every Safeway deli I go to, the deli employees are never pleasant. They are unwelcoming, no smile, no customer service, and just act like they don’t want to be there. Yes, in the end they do their job and make you the sandwich you want but does it hurt to smile a little?

Location, location, location. Convenience draws me and in a pinch I’m inside, and in a sleepwalker’s trance I stumble around familiar with the layout of each and every Safeway, even if I’ve never been here before. Is that a real selling point though? Is that sufficient enough for me to judge this big box store any better than any big box store; simply being able to find something? Says nothing about the freshness, quality or inherent value of the product or the store that stocks it. Meh. Safeway. I can experience better. ______________________________ *Review 419⁄365 personal challenge

One of the larger Safeway locations, with plenty of parking. The inside is quite spacious even by Safeway standards. I really like the high ceilings as it gives a much more airy feel. Of course, everyone knows you don’t go to Safeway to save money. You’re throwing money away to feel good. Something about supporting the multinationals. Oh wait, did I get that wrong? To be honest, if you’re in this area, Superstore is a much better deal.

One of the best grocery stores within the area. Except for the one down the street. COUGHCOUGH. But this store has been here for years. I have seen this store change from it’s old grey and regular tile floors, to this new fabulous renovated underground parking store. I love the new building and the new layout of the store with more parking space! I come here a lot due to air miles, one of the best point system programs ever. I enjoy it a lot. Happy that their service is still up to par and that MOST of their groceries are fresh. I enjoy it a lot. A decent 3⁄5 means you are A-Okay! :D

More expensive than Save-On-Foods and Price Smart and you are not getting anything more for that money!

This is, for me, one of the best«Safeways» out there, as for one, it is never too crowded, and the sale items are always out in easy to find places, like right in the front isles, so you don’t have to go on a treasure hunt to find something. The location is nice, on the corner of Willingdon and Hastings, and the parking is abundant, they even have underground parking, which I have only seen when I access the liquor store in the back! This location is grand in size, and they seem to carry a more lush selection of produce, either that or someone just knows how to set this up prettier than other places. The place is maintained well, never messy, the isles are wide, and everything is nicely placed. The staff here are pretty good, and like all Safeway’s, they offer to carry your bags to your car. You can have a Starbucks, they also have a nice area to sit in to eat from the deli, or a soup. They even have tables outside, which is a nice touch. It’s a great alternative big box supermarket if you do not like crowds of people!

As I seem to never find what I am looking for in a new grocery store, this one is definately a step above with someone seemingly always in site in which to ask. Yesterday we popped in and sought soy products, their small selection are on the asle end near the produce.
