Safeway is known to be a bit pricey and their stores all basically look the same so this is just a review on staff. Night staff 0 stars Came in at night. Most people do because of work. As I went to pay, a cashier removed the sale tag of a floral item and said it didn’t belong. I went to the manager who said yeah it didn’t have the right ID. I promptly showed him and his brown nosing sidekick, that every floral item is marked with a different ID than it’s original name. He told me to come back in the morning. Not only was the cashier not reprimanded, the night manager was… feckless. Morning staff 5 stars Called in the next morning, florist tells me item was tagged correctly and makes sure to hold the item for me. She listens to me rant and calls in the manager. Manager listens to my complaint they rectified the situation to my satisfaction. What Safeway needs to do to get better ratings. Cashiers need to be trained and retrained on how all departments code their products. Cashiers need to be trained and retrained on customer etiquette. Night managers need to work in each department for a week to find out the ins and outs of each department. They need to deal with customers directly and learn manage without a personal sidekick telling them how they would run the store. Final score 2.5 Suggestions to shoppers: Don’t go at night if you can avoid it.

This rating is solely based on the altercation I had with a staff Member. If I had time I would had brought it up with the manager. The issue was that it brought in a bag of Potatoes from their nearby competition which was very close by. The attendant watching the till thought the potatoes were from Safeway and loudly mentioned …“what about the potatoes” as I was about to leave. So basically, the conversation escalated and felt like a conflict like he was defending Safeways Brand. This review and altercation would have a far better rating and this wouldn’t have ended up with a bad review if the attendant watching the self serve tills had a better approach to communication. He could have asked«Are those from Safeway.» This encounter with Safeway was a major turnoff.

Left today without my items… Picked up some nice baked goods and headed to the self serve checkout machine. Before I could even start, an employee pushed his way in front of me, took control of the machine, RUMMAGEDTHROUGHMYITEMS to see what I had and rang in my order. I stood silently with my mouth ajar not because I didn’t know how to operate this machine but because I couldn’t believe this was happening. I left without my items. Those are your cookies now touchy! Self Service machine should be self service. I’ll call you if I need help.

Located by Lougheed Mall. A lot nicer than the one by Schoolhouse. Like their bakery section on the left. And where the washrooms are ;) Starbucks inside, good place to check my email on big counters.

I like this Safeway. All the cashiers know me as a regular and are always friendly and helpful. The bakery is better than most others and their selection of pre-made foods is above average. I do like their deli. Their made-to-order sandwiches are excellent. Way better than going to Subway. I find their produce to be superior than the likes of Superstore. It all looks fresh and they have an adequate selection of organically grown product. Their flower shop isn’t bad either. It just needs to be staffed for more hours of the day than it is. The rest of the store is well laid out. They have an ok selection of product and the staff are pretty knowledgeable. Their prices on regular-priced items are high. Sale priced items are pretty good but it means you have to figure out their sale-cycle to get the best deals. Then again, you also get Air Miles and the 1st Tuesday of every month is Customer Appreciation Day so you get 10% off your total bill or 10x Air Miles(I never understand those who take the bonus miles). I’ve never had a problem with their checkout lines but I usually go later in the evening. All in all, it’s a pretty good location. They do what they’re supposed to.

Try coming here at night to find a single cashier working and all the chip and pin check out machines off. Yup«Welcome To Safeway». It’s open late, and isn’t great. Don’t get me wrong Safeway is very… pretty for a grocery store, and it’s chip and pin machine has a cute female voice that utters«Have you swiped your Safeway Card yet?», nice people work here and to be fair it’s deli is pretty nice, and they have cute gift baskets(I know because my grandma sends them to me at Christmas because she’s awesome.) However beyond this Safeways flaws come into play –Prices –Lack of staff at night(that’s the only reason I come here it’s open late) –Produce quality. Spraying water on stuff doesn’t make it fresh safeway: I –Staff who work their are treated like shit –Their chip and pin machines are unintelligent«Move item from bag area»…There was nothing in the bag area Safeway Chip Pin Voice Lady !!! So yes like an adult I got into a row with a chip and pin machine.

Sometimes, you have no choice but to shop where its convenient. This place is close by and has friendly staff and good customer service. Sometimes thats all it takes to make a shopping experience what it should be. I always see a manager on duty, sometimes I wonder if these guys ever go home. hehe I never had problems with the deli items or bakery. Ever. They have suffered from labour cutbacks, like most retail grocery chains, but they still try to keep it clean, stocked, and maintain a friendly atmosphere. Their self checkout was fast and accepts cash! I was wondering when we’d finally get these machines.

This a typical Safeway. I did get a pre-made chicken here for some soup and found it to be quite delicious. I get my mix here occasionally. They have a good selection, I usually just get some diet coke. This Safeway also offers customers some nice flowers and plants. On occasion I will stop to smell these flowers. It tends to make me feel good.

Attached to Lougheed Mall, in a physical state, but there is no doorway from inside the mall? You must walk out of the mall and go from the Safeway entrance to get in this place. Odd for a location which probably receives most of its business from the mall. So what else do you get from coming to this Safeway, well the more ‘typical’ new things of the newer stores: Starbucks and a small BMO bank. You can get a good coffee, do your banking(if you bank with them), collect AirMiles, and also eat at their deli, where they serve up some pretty good cooked food, and a nice selection of grilled panini’s. The one thing that has not changed, and also reading in this review, that still hold true is the lack of help they have. There have been times that I have waited in line, when only two registers have been open, and the line up just builds. I like the convenience of the place, and also the selection of lettuce(as they always seem to be more lush and bigger at Safeway?).

Safeway is just too convenient from my place… I like that they have ready made foods(hello baked potato soup, love of my life) and a good range… plus I don’t feel overwhelmed by junk food. They also have a limited selection of wheat free products in their bakery aisle which is always appreciated. Staff is always friendly. However, there are two things which I don’t like about Safeway. Quite like doing your grocery shopping at a convenience store the prices are quite high, so expect to pay much more than you need to. Also, even though they are now selling the enviro friendly cloth bags, the frivolously bag with their plastics… I once bought five items and each was put in a seperate bag which seemed excessive. I also still receive the«weirdo» looks when I throw my items into my oversized handbag(admittedly once I put a pineapple in my handbag and that may be a touch odd) or bring my own.
