Nevco Automatic Transmission

Had an unexpected failure of my transmission on the road near the northwest side of Burnaby… not knowing any mechanic (or Transmission shop for that matter) in the area, and it being after 5 pm on a Friday, I had little hope of finding a shop when I started looking on my phone…
Fortunately for me, the only place open after 5 was Nevco, and I am glad I found them…
After the tow and leaving them with it for the night (one of the mechanics nicely even giving me a ride home) I expected the worst, as Ford Explorers have a bad rep for faulty transmissions… Larry could have easily put in a new one and I would have been half expecting it, but the next day (on a Saturday no less) he found only a coolant hose had come off, allowing all the fluid out… After fixing the hose and replacing the fluid, checking for other problems, and a drive test, gave me a call with the good news…
I would recommend Nevco to anyone having transmission issues, as helpful and honest as they come…

I cringe at the thought of finding a new mechanic — and finding a new transmission specialist is even more daunting. Fixing or replacing a transmission is such an expensive job, and one can easily be misled or ripped off. Not at Nevco. They drove me around for about 15 minutes so I could try to replicate the problem with my automatic transmission. But it didn’t happen. They took out the computer and checked for computer codes: None. The mechanic explained all the possible problems and the related costs. Then he said it could be a matter of just topping off the transmission oil, even a little above the full level. He wasn’t selling me on a repair or replacement of the transmission. He encouraged me to ride it out. And guess what? It’s been more than a month, and I haven’t had a problem. I would highly recommend Nevco Automatic Transmission Ltd. They experience AND trust, a great combination in the auto repair industry.
