i love this place. My favorite is the roast lamb. I used to come here a lot with my friend Michael. I find the portions to be very good and the flavour is really good/right. They are also very nice there and very professional. My favorite greek restaurant in Burnaby.

Pure authentic family run greek restaurant. However overpass is blocking the view partially to see it from the street. Owners need to display a sign right on Kingsway. Do not miss out on this restaurant! Beautiful family home turned into the restaurant with the cooking done on the main floor and the service on the second floor. Décor is authentic and cozy. One cannot but love this place. The menu is authentic. The waitress who is also the daughter of the family is Greek. As always, I ordered the calamari. However had the choice of either fried which one can find anywhere or grilled. If the calamari is not fresh, grilled calamari will be even tougher to eat than fried. To my pleasure, the calamari was very fresh and excellent. A healthier way to eat calamari. For the dinner I chose the traditional dish Moussaka which is like the Greek version of Shepherds Pie. This meal comes with a small house greek salad(needed more oregano in the salad dressing), fresh pita bread, greek potatoes and carrots. Overall. .EXCELLENT! With the meal I enjoyed the house white greek wine. For dessert I ordered the Bougatsa with traditional Greek coffee. I was warned that the coffee would be strong but I found it very earthy. The Bougatsa was delightful. Don’t expect a overly sweet pastry. With just simple shaker of powered sugar and cinnamon over a lemon custard filled phyllo pastry. One word. …Wonderful! Don’t miss out on this family run greek restaurant!

After ordering take away from this establishment I was shocked to find that I have driven past the restaurant time and again without seeing it. Tucked away just off Kingsway and hidden under the Skytrain, it is hard to spot but I am glad we found it. My colleagues and I ordered lunch from Minoas. With six of us ordering different items from the menu, we were all pleased with the portions and flavours. Upon picking up the food, I was charmed by the atmosphere as well as the polite service as we were welcomed to pick up our food. I am surprised the rating for this place is as low as it is – we will absolutely be ordering from this restaurant again.

We have been coming here on and off for about 20 years. Food has always been consistently good and it is the only restaurant I know of that serves Pastitsio. I love the inside atmosphere and the service is always excellent!

A family owned business… its a big house turned into a restaurant… free parking at the rear, decors are authentic greek style, the dining room is by the second floor, huge place, approximately 6o and over people can dine in atthesame time. we went here for lunch its our monthly group event at work we called it black september greek get together… we’re 20 heads, 17 adults and 3 children im a frequent here maybe 6 years ago and i was surprise… service is a bit slow and quality of food isnt as great as before… all of us had thesame comment“food s arent that Great“ wifi is by shaw so again not working with ny retarded phone, ambiancewise the place is good, busy though coz its lunch time washroom is already old and needs some upgrade. cleanliness is unremarkable, the problem is theres only two server for that time and it was chaos specially when paying time… line up and really causing a lot of delays myself and few friends were not really satisfied with what we had for lunch so after paying some of us went to another place to eat… well maybe dinnertime is better but as of now… im not thinking of coming back soon to this place good for group, kids and family…

Very disapointing experience. The Saganaki was the highlight, and the best part of the meal. Unfortunately Saganaki is an appetizer and everything else was bad. Soggy rice followed by the sorriest portion of lamb chops I’ve ever seen. 4 chops, 4 bites: that small. 17 bucks later I’ll just head for any pizza slice place nearby.

I suppose I was expecting more. I saw a lot of great reviews. I liked the upstairs of an old, redone house all Greeked out. But the salad didn’t much stick out as fantastic. And I love lamb, but the souvlaki didn’t do it for me. Either way, it was fair and tasted alright.

If you don’t set your expectations high you will be pleased. We were invited to the restaurant by our friends, place was dated, but looked very Greek which I liked, food was very tasty and flavorful, although I’m not a fan of the rice and basic salad. Staff was all over the place, I could not figure out who served our table, there was so many of them. Overall it was a great experience, but I don’t think that I’ll be back.

The lamb shoulder is to die for. If you’re vegetarian, the moussaka is terrific. We’ve been going there since we moved into the neighbourhood and they know us, we know them. Great service. Good for groups. We had our wedding dinner there! Fantastic! Very comfortable atmosphere. There are a lot of plants in the décor. A little Dionysus. In the evenings, there’s a nice romantic atmosphere. My fave restaurant in Metrotown.

My husband and I used to live right by here, so we went for dinner fairly often here. The food is yummy. I love the gyros and the souvlaki. Prices are pretty decent. The location isn’t the greatest because that area is going downhill a bit, and the restaurant is right by a bottle return depot. I would still recommend it though. Worth a visit if you like Greek food!

I was given a Groupon by a relative for this restaurant and googled for some reviews and was shocked at a number of negative reviews from its location to its décor to its food and its service, pretty much dissuading me from even going there. Don’t read too much into these reviews as you need to try it out yourself before rejecting this restaurant. We went for lunch and found their lamb souvlakia, wraps and pita bread very tasty. Lunch prices are very reasonable and usually range from $ 10-$ 12. Even though we handed in our groupon when we stepped in, the waitress was also very attentive and polite. I even spoke with the older lady at the counter and complimented that their pita bread is delicious and different from other places(there is a nice thin crust). Remember, this place used to be a home. It may look old but it has a very homely feeling and home-cooked meals. The reason I am giving it a 4-star is not because this restaurant is not good but I have yet to try this place for dinner.

This is a quiet little place situated right under the skytrain tracks across from central park. The restaurant itself is an older heritage-style house painted Greek white-and-blue and adorned with a wrap around covered balcony for dining. Pity the tracks don’t provide much in the way of interesting scenery to look at, but points for trying. We came here on a Sunday evening as part of a Groupon deal. Both of us had the lamb shoulder which was delightful. The meal started with a small plate of greek salad, which was tasty and high on the tomato side. The lamb was so soft that knives were completely unnecessary, you could cut it like a cake with the side of your fork — just remembering it makes my mouth water! Additionally, the portion size was huge and we both left fully satisfied.

Unilocal users don’t seem to like Minoas, but people I know have raved about the quality of the lamb roast here on multiple occasions. When a Groupon deal popped up, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to put Minoas to the test. Don’t come here expecting to be swept off your feet by a swanky restaurant. This is very much a home-style taverna, and it’s tucked away under train tracks. I felt like I was eating dinner on someone’s balcony in Greece. Super cozy atmosphere. Service is pretty slow, but maybe that’s a part of the homeliness? It didn’t bother us because we weren’t in a hurry, but I can see how it might tick some people off. The slow-roasted lamb shoulder is absolutely the way to go in terms of food – word of mouth did not serve me wrong. The meat is so succulent and flavourful, and it just comes apart at the slightest touch. I barely had to use my knife to eat it! It will also leave you stuffed to the brim, so win-win. This dish is reason enough for me to return here in the future. Oh, did I mention that they can accommodate large groups? If you’re reading this and have to plan a big dinner any time soon…*nudge*

bad service, food is very pricey compare to the quantity you get very little portion. i ordered kalamari dinner for pickup it costs $ 18 compare to Stephos in downtown it costs only $ 11. when I picked up my food no fork or spoon or napkin i got with the food. i would not recommend this place. VERYEXPENSIVE compare to other greek tavern . they don’t even deserve one star

Building is kinda funky. Service is mediocre at best, especially if you have an Entertainment Book coupon. The owners, especially the elderly woman have a bad attitude. Food is ok, but you can’t help get a weird feeling and wonder if they did something to your food before serving it because you presented them with a coupon in advance.

If you want a home-cooked style Greek meal, look no further! From the fish to their signature roast lamb shoulder, the food is amazing. The meat is so tender and tasty. Their rice is fluffy and yummy and their sauces and salad are fresh and tangy. Love the décor inside, too. It’s a bit on the campy side, but it is very unique and charming. The service is very attentive and friendly. I am another one of those people who don’t know why there are such nasty negative reviews below. Trust me – this place is consistently great if you’re looking for a home-cooked style Greek meal(big portions, too)! Lots of free parking.

It’s kind of a charming space. We were a little concerned going in for an early supper, the place was nearly empty, but it soon filled up and was hopping. Greek food is good. Our server was perfect, and all the staff were friendly and helpful, despite getting busy we had no complaints and papa got to practice his Greek. Some things about this place are a little dated, but it’s not bad. Lots of folk art, a replica of Crete, made of seashells and framed on the wall… take a look around this is a unique space. Papa said he hadn’t had ribs like that… very meaty and tender. Chicken Souvlaki was really nicely spiced and tender, & everyone enjoyed their rice and potatoes. The Pastisio lasagna on special was a nice change, my favorite part of the meal was actually the vegetables though! The carrots were just so awesome, don’t know how they cooked them, but for a side veggie they were sure a star on my plate. I was pretty happy that my daughter and niece don’t like cooked carrots. Nice Greek salad, with the addition of a few in-season fresh veggies, and pita bread and tzatziki — both fluffy and tasty. I did find that some things were a little salty, but I have that problem everywhere. Minoas gets the win — they are more authentic with the tastes and menu choices, than the competition a little further east.

Personally I do not agree with any if the negative reviews from here, I found the place to be so adorable and great very informative service, our server was able to help me and my mom chose a good that we would like and the prices are very affordable especially for the massive portions you get. The food was to die for and I would defiantly go back :)

It’s been nearly a year since I’ve signed into Unilocal and saw the below draft waiting to be posted. Better late than never. So here goes: Purchased 2 groupons for this place in anticipation of my Greek-cuisine-loving bestie coming home for the holidays. But it wasn’t until after the deed was done that I realized this wasn’t the same Greek joint on Kingsway my cousin says is his favorite restaurant. Still, we went with high hopes only to have them completely dashed. Where do I even begin. Service was painfully slow considering the restaurant was practically empty; the food was not flavorful unless you like your food doused in salt; the top of a biftekia was burnt off and then«reattached»; there was a hair baked into my spanakopit; and the waitress was talking about how she would never purchase Internet deals(such as groupon) to the only other customers in the restaurant who were sitting at the table next to ours. I don’t know if this is redeeming in any way, but after the waitress overheard me telling my friend that I’d have to write my first Unilocal review just so other diners would be forewarned of this place, we were offered a complimentary slab of their cheesecake tiramisu, which we left half uneaten due to its saccharin sweetness. We were also given a coupon of $ 8 off our next meal. I didn’t want to seem ungrateful of the kind gesture, so I didn’t leave the coupon behind. So. if there’s anyone out there who really enjoys their salty and burnt foods, I have a coupon for you.
