The man who was running the show the night I went was amazing! He gave out some milkshake/float samples… And French fry samples. ;) He was very accommodating to my allergies and I ended up getting g a burger in a lettuce wrap instead of the bun. I wish I could drink milk because the extensive and delicious looking milkshake and float menu. I was impressed by the French fries and the burger was good. It’s not quite the same without the bun though. If you aren’t allergic to Milk you’d love the burgers here. The building is very small but he’s used the space well also there is a covered outdoor booth seat area which must be excellent in the summer…

They make burgers that take some time to eat. 4oz and 6oz patties with home baked white and whole wheat buns infused with Oregano and Rosemary. It reminded me of the original Wally’s burger location on Kingsway. This place was a throwback to the burgers from when I was a kid back in the 70’s. And the Hot Dogs looked heavenly. They even tagged them as «caution, highly addictive» The owner is very proud of this establishment and you can see that he’s working the business the way he feels is best. There is a lot of pride given into the food when he’s here. You know, as a kid I don’t remember this place. So I’m not sure what it was back in the 70’s. Maybe I have just forgotten. Why we came here? I saw them on TV in Supernatural and as you know, those boys on the the show love their burgers. So we just had to come here to start off our 50’s style diners and drive ins taste of Vancouver. I had the King burger which had both the mushrooms and bacon and my burger was very good. I ate pretty much everything. I did order the fries and a bottle of water and 10 minutes later, it was all devoured. My brother ordered the same thing but with lemonade. His burger not as good and I think the owner noticed that my brother didn’t eat all of it and offered him his money back. My brother actually ate everything except the bottom bun.(He’s not much on carbs and I had to finish his fries for him) He politely refused the money back, but did mention that his burger was very salty. Maybe the order cook sprinkled too much seasoning on the patty? I brought along with me our Unilocal favorite«Japanese Food Critique» to culture her in burger heaven and the nostalgia that these places offer, why it has impact on me and get her to understand my sense of history with this food genre. She liked her burger and was really impressed by the owners description and pride of his fresh baked buns that they do in house. If she lived closer, I think she would secretly be here more often and want to marry him to get his recipes. I’m giving this a 3.5 stars, almost a 4 star for the burgers. The fries were a bit soggy, but the perceived memories and my imagination of what this place was like back when I was a kid went rampant. I felt like a kid all over again. Thanks again Sam and Dean and the TV show, Super Natural for showing us this place.

Walking around Burnaby and found this place unexpectedly almost in the middle of nowhere making its name quite suiting. The burger was great! Fresh, tasted like real food and not artificially flavored. The place looks like a bit of a greasy spoon, but the food knocks that all out of the park. So recommend!

I arrived at 12:15 for lunch. I was order #50…they were serving order #45 at the time. I didn’t see my lunch until 1:00Pm. Fries were cold, burger bun was stale, the meat clearly industrial. I paid $ 12 for absolute mediocrity. Sad really, as I like old timer diners. I won’t be back.

I got the Texas BBQ burger with fries and a milk shake. I really didn’t know what to expect. Looking around very retro and actually kinda cozy. Definitely holds up to its name. Staff is very friendly. I think the guy with the paperboy cap is the owner. Very friendly and genuine to talk to. You could easily warm up to him. Food comes along and I got my burger with onion rings and a shake. Not what I ordered but I’ll take it. Taking a bite into it and OMGSOOOOOOTASTY, with noticeable heat from the jalapeño peppers inside. All I can say is wow. I have to put down my phone and just enjoy this burger. Taking a sip of my milkshake, its a little thick for my taste. Flavour is banana fudge. Still pretty good. The owner was telling me that their burgers are home made as well as their fries. All in all, burger was worth it. Will I visit again? Yes. Will I tell my friends and other people about it? Yes.

Huge burgers, high quality meats. Better than homemade, I love coming here with the guys to chow down on a big lunch or dinner.

The best burger ever… I recommend it to my American friends but they didn’t like it. Because it’s a bit different that what they used to. But I fell in love with it at first try. It’s heavy and delicious. I tried pretty much everything here. I love LA king the best. Their lemonade is very good but not the best choice with burger. If you like to try a new taste of hamburger definitely try this. Fries is exactly the way I love it. Place is very cute and music always good. The owner is awesome. It’s my favourite place…

This cool little café is so kitchy-cute I don’t know where to start. First the café, tiny and cramped with walls covered in movie memorabilia brings back memories of the old drive-in’s of 1950’s. The menu has many different types of hamburgers, all on in house baked buns. Fresh hand cut fries and onion rings, nothing frozen here… except the old fashioned milk shakes that are alone worth a trip to Edmonds Street. Tons of flavors. Great outdoor seating area in back of the café and plenty of tables out front. And YES you can actually drive-thru like the old days! Your kids will love it…

I got the Alberta burger with cheese, onion rings and a shake. I really enjoyed the onion rings, but felt that the share and the burger were ok. The price was a little high, and the ambiance was old, thrown together, and not necessarily something to make you want to stay. I won’t say stay away, but don’t expect to be blown away. It’s more of a novelty than anything else.

If you are looking for fast food because you run a busy schedule and need something quick, go ahead and drive down the road and get your usual, cheap and tasteless Mc Donalds… But if you are willing to sit down, enjoy a good old fashioned burger with an amazing milk shake and 50’s atmosphere, 50’s Burgers is the place for you. The buns are baked in house and the patty’s are hand pressed and filled with flavor. The food sells itself and I can really see this place picking up after the management change. Do not compare this place with your typical, franchised fast food joint because that would not be fair. You may wait about 5 minutes and pay a little bit extra for your meals but it will be a gourmet burger worth the wait.

Excellent, big burgers, fries and milkshakes. Fresh ingredients and better for you! Reminds me of the kind we used to eat as kids. They even bake their own buns on site. Nice atmosphere too. You may want to split the burgers — they’re that big! Try the LA King, their most popular burger.

I had one of their burgers with jalapenos on it, it was fantastic. The service was great, the manager forgot to add our onion rings but quickly replaced them and let us keep the fries they accidentally sent out beforehand as well. The price is pretty great too!

old time atmosphere? check. classic burgers on menu with onion rings and milkshakes? check. good service and great taste? check and check again. they also serve the more adventurous souls that venture here, incl texas burgers or athena burgers. the atmosphere was there but the indoor dining area is very small. however, they do have a large picnic/outdoor area to eat. the taste? delicious! all their burgers are serves with the works(ketchup, mustard, cooked onions, lettuce, tomato) and homemade(toasted) buns, with a choice of white or whole wheat; their patties are all homemade as well; their food is made fresh with every order. i don’t particularly enjoy the fries, as they were not made to my level of crispiness standards. but there is a seasoning on the fries that made up for the lack of crisp. i would not drive out to eat here, but if i was in the area and craving some good burgers, this is not a bad place to hit.

This drive-in’s burgers have me All Shook Up! When I first saw the prices, I thought«Don’t Be Cruel, these are Too Much.» But after tasting the Big Hunk O’ Love I was served, I knew A Fool Such As I Can’t Help Falling in Love with the Lost In the 50’s Drive-In! Seriously though, the burgers they serve here are probably the most complete I’ve had. The guy who runs the restaurant, Brian, and his brother mentioned that they actually own a bakery, which explains the fresh taste of the bread. The patties were also very fresh and well-cooked. I ordered the onion rings and they were also very good, although it’s not too hard to cook onion rings. The food is pretty good, but the atmosphere is really what makes this place. It’s been here since 19forever-ago, and there’s lots of cool decorations and knick-knacks that have been lost in time, from the old-school napkin dispenser to the windows from which they serve the food to the counter. The posters are all super cool too, and very 50’s themed. The service is super nice. The folks who run this diner seem like they really care about the food they serve, and it shows. You should check this place out, at least once. My only gripe is the price; it’s expensive for what you get, but it’s definitely an experience. Also, the cool bus they had outside is gone! But other than that, this place is definitely the bee’s knees!

After all the good things I heard about the place when they were under the old management I decided to give them a try. I was underwhelmed by the food after my first visit a year and a half ago. They had just taken over and reopened the business. So after all this time I decided to give them another try. The milkshake was fair but the long awaited burger just was not what I expected. It was big(6 oz.) but was overcooked and tough. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger(called a London something, can’t remember the name) They put cooked and raw onions it… without asking, I think there was peppers, lettuce, tomato, ketsup, mustard and a bun(three choices) that was hard. I ended up picking the burger apart and just eating the meat patty, which would have been fine if I didn’t burp it up all afternoon. I’m amazed at some of the reviews bragging them all up. I found the whole thing unappetizing Will I go back… no sorry. Nice people but I don’t like their food.

We came in for the food this time and we were unfortunately disappointed. Hubs and I shared an order of the poutine and a London burger, added two drinks and it was twenty dollars. Expensive but we were hoping for great quality. The poutine took 26 minutes to come to us, and the burger one minute or so less. The people who came after us got their burgers before us! It was wretched service. The poutine was small, some fries were not cooked, and the cheese was solid and cold! The burger was only ok, too much bun and smothered in mushrooms even though we hadn’t ordered them. I’m happy to pay for quality and wait for good food, but a half an hour for undercooked fries? Insanity. We both left hungry. Safe to say we won’t be returning!

* Spot has potential — but not the shake * This spot does have the feel of an old-time burger stand. The name is appropriate. No car-hops on roller skates though. You park your car and go «inside» to the protected counter to make your order and get it and then return to your car. I passed by this spot after already eating, but figured I should check it out. I just grabbed a shake, as for me a good classic burger stand needs to have a good shake. I figured it would be a good way to see if they were serious. Unfortunately the shake was way too thin — too much milk and not enough ice cream. Didn’t need to apply vacuum like sucking skills to the straw to get it out. Disappointing! Photo: But the location has the potential for that nostalgic feel. I may come back and see how the burgers and fries are. But I won’t be getting another shake sadly.
