Ive been going here for a few years now, Since i go to school in the area. Started out with the ocasional purchase of a chicken rice bowl. Which at a time, at its peak. Was awesome, then they toned it down in quality, raised the price. Slowly over time the whole experienced seemed to die down a bit. Im sure the owners/employees realized they were doing something wrong at a certain point when buisness was getting slow or people were just getting adjetated with the atrocious service. Then one day i just noticed they amped up the«service» aspect of the buisness. Everything to do with the food was pretty much the same. The fact that they are trying to better themselves and improve experience for the consumer gives me some apreciation towards them. Deep down they are all good nice people, they just have a tough time commuting considering all their workers seem to be pretty rusty with the english language. But i give them credit for still trying to better their service. They are a small independent buisness and i will continue to support them because i know they can do better. The food now isnt really«bad» to be honest. Its just not as good as you would expect it to be. If i still eat here, then that means they aint that bad. So support the local buisness’s and help them do better by eating their food!

Mom and pop style eatery. Simple and cozy setting. Upon walking in the colourful photos caught my attention. We weren’t greeted by the waitress(wife?) when we walked in, but we were served tea and given menus right away. After ordering … we sat for about 2 minutes before our food came. A good indication that it’s pre-made and sitting around waiting for someone to order it. The waitress isn’t very social. She would simply walked out of the kitchen with our food … set it on the table … and walked away. Each dish that was brought out to us was in complete silence. I wasn’t too impressed with our food being served on disposable plates and were given disposable utensils and a styrofoam cup for tea and a plastic bowl for soup. You had to walk through the kitchen are to get to the bathroom /storage room /hot water tank room … the bathroom was FILTHY!!! When you walk past the kitchen /prep area … OMG I wanted to gag! We won’t be returning.

I come here once or twice a month at least, they have good sushi for a great price. I usually go with their roles and there is never anything to complain about. Their Boxes are also a great deal as well. However when I get takeout it’s all in styrofoam packaging and it would be really great if they could transition to more eco friendly options since a lot of their business is take out.

We stumbled to this sushi restaurant one evening as I have been passing by this restaurant frequently while walking to yoga class. The restaurant was packed and definitely busy with take out orders as well. Price for items is very reasonable. Quality is decent. Food was prepared quickly. The odd note is that all the food is served on take out containers. I felt like I was at the food court! Miso soup had bits of imitation crab meat which was a first for me to see in miso soup. Usually, I would find tofu. The value is there. Service was alright. The server was too busy that my tea was never refilled. Food arrived quickly. It is worth a visit if you are in the area and know what to expect.

I had their assorted sashimi platter. Quality of fish was bad. Only the Salmon was ok. And their cuts are very uneven. I had a bit of food poisoning 12 hours later. Without the food poisoning, the value of the meal wasn’t quite there even though they’re on the low cost side.

Dishonourable service. I’ve been in this restaurant a few times now; its small and dingy but the sushi is pretty good. When I was in there last I noticed that while they’ve always just gave me water in a plastic cup they gave the other guy in there tea without him asking for it. I enjoyed coming here and supporting a small local business, but I feel quite let down and insulted. I’m disappointed that I can never go in there and purchase food from them again as I cannot support a company that conducts itself with dishonour and favouritism to its patrons. This small act displays such blatant disrespect to someone who has spent hard earned dollars there and supported them. Hong, you’ve permanently lost my business over such a cheap and trivial thing as a cup of tea.

The sushi quality is more like what you’d expect from mall sushi. I used to come here all the time but since they increase their prices I’ve always gone somewhere else. It used to be cheap fast and decent. Now it’s average priced for less than average food… Also service seemed to slow as well. Entrée quality is also so so… the yakisoba is more bean sprouts than noodles, but if that suits your style, the sauce they use is tasty. Their only redeeming quality that deserves this ONESTAR is that their chicken kaarage is absolutely delicious. They must marinate the wings for days… Best in burnaby that I’ve tried.

Food is pretty good, only thing I don’t like is the tuna rolls. I prefer the fish not be in giant chunks, but that’s just a personal thing. It would be a 4 star, but they use Styrofoam containers and plates for everything, not only takeout. That’s a huge ding against them.

Hong Sushi is my fave spot for healthy food to go. Five stars for these five reasons: * it’s fresh * it’s healthy * it’s inexpensive * food is always prepared quickly * staff are curteous & clean I love the chicken yakisoba & the bento boxes are a great deal. Hubby enjoys the Salmon Sashimi –always fresh & generous portions Try Hong Sushi~~

A small little place just before the hill up to SFU. with a few small tables. Staff were friendly and courteous and the food fresh tasting and arrived quickly. Only problem, and it is a big problemfor me which is why I will only give it two stars, is they use styrofoam containers not only for takeout but for use while you eat there as well. We decided to eat there and every item we received was disposable. The water came in a disposable cup, the rice bowl in a styrofoam cup, sushi on styrofoam platters… One cannot expect recyclable containers for takeout from all businesses as it might not always be affordable, but if you are going to eat there it seems unnecessary to use containers that are not reusable. I would definitely go there again if they would use other options for dine-in but until then I will hold myself back.

Super cheap, super yummy, that’s really the only way to sum this place up. Service is fast and polite. Their bowls and bento boxes are insanely cheap and pretty good for the price point. Recommended: the tofu teriyaki box. It’s HUGE(4 huge slabs of tofu slathered in teriyaki on a bed of rice, 6pcs avocado roll, a side salad and spring rolls(or inari) and for $ 7(after taxes) you leave super full and your wallet doesn’t feel any emptier ;)

My friends brought me here for some sushi take-out before we retired to their house for pre-drinks and debauchery as we painted the town red on Saturday night. I was delighted to see two different veggie combos on the menu, and had trouble deciding which one to pick, but ended up with the first one, along with some gomae. We ran to the liquor store while we waited for our takeout, since the only two tables in the restaurant were full. We came back to find all of our food ready and waiting. We dove into our rolls when we got back to the house, and everything tasted good. The sushi here was decent and reasonably priced. And I noticed they also have a veggie party tray if we ever decide to go crazy.

Hong Sushi is the best takeout in the neighborhood. Can’t go wrong with cheap, fresh, tasty sushi. I love veggie combo A and veggie combo B. And, the beef teriyaki is super delish.
