I am a regular customer at HMV Metrotown, but my experiences are rather unsatisfactory. Employees of this store have no understanding about any artist who made their albums before the year 2000! In many occasions I have asked about an artist or an album in order to find what i need fast, but the simple and the default answer is «Sorry sir, we don’t have that album with us now» and after 5 minutes search I find few copies of the same album! They are just wondering about in the store and absolutely have no understanding about the music or artists which are on sale. Only good thing about them is they have a wide selection of CD’s, Vinyls and movies on sale — that’s the only reason I keep shopping there. Customer service absolutely needs to improve.

I just stood at the counter for five minutes waiting to buy something while four employees didn’t bother to acknowledge or help me. I just left.

We received some appalling customer service today at your HMV store in Metrotown centre. Seems to me you have an employee that has a bad mouth on her. We will never shop at your store again if people with terrible attitudes work behind the counter.

This HMV is one of my go to places for CD’s(the other being London Drugs; they surprisingly have a great selection!) &DVD’s. They’re usually very well stocked and if you’re looking for something, I’ve found the staff more than accomodating. From what I understand, they actually have demo copies of CD’s so if you want to try one out before you buy it, ask the cashier and they’ll let you listen at the testing station near the front!

The place looks great and has a cool atmosphere. They have the best and a descent selection CD compared to the competition.

okay place i guess, it has changed, it used to be good, asking to get an order is a pain because they don’t ship it until later, ton of weeks go by then finally the order has been sent in, next time i’ll just shop online. this place is good for deals and for things that seem interesting, used to be good and had fast service but boy, times have changed.

It’s bad enough when you’re having a bad day and than you go into the next store and you receive the worst customer service. I’ve never liked going into the music stores, so what possessed me to go this time, Oh yeah my fiancée thought that it would be a good idea. I’ve been looking for a CD of a particular artist for awhile now and haven’t had much luck. So I asked the sales lady if she could check for me. When she got back she was rude about it and said next time I should maybe consider checking on their website before coming in. Never again will I ever go back to another music store. I’ll stick to online shopping.

I’m surprised HMV is still in business. Good for them though. It’s hard to survive with all the streaming, downloading and Netflix out there. DVDs go for $ 10 for 2, which is a steal, but there’s not a lot of people who continue to buy them nowadays. Or is there? I did however, see some cool water glasses with Game of Thrones themes.

It’s weird that I have been shopping here for more than 10 years and it took me until now to write a review on this place. I go to HMV every week mostly to browse as I find most new titles to be over priced, however, if you wait a few months most of those titles drop to $ 9.99 or 2 for $ 20 which with tax is more reasonable, the cost of what a CD really should be. In a age that is going digital, you would think that they would make the cost of CD’s more appealing and affordable to remind kids that hard format is often better. Most CD’s come with a digital code anyway(like Vinyl). Truthfully I come less for the CD’s and more for checking out their box sets and Blu Rays. Since Blu Rays have become the new pink this means that DVD box sets have dropped dramatically, allowing me to complete certain collections at a more reasonable rate. Lately they have been annoyingly late in getting in new titles when they’re released not that their affordable until a few months later anyway but still… Customer service staff has been like fast food staff mentality.

32⁄100 I wanted to buy a DVD, but I was not sure where to go. I know HMV on Robson was gone, so I googled it while holding my breathe. Low and behold there is a location right up the street from me in Metrotown! They are up in the«dead zone» by Winners. And the DVD was just $ 11.99. Thank god! So yes, THEYARESTILLOPENHERE(for now).

They offer many kinds of movies, TV shows, and CD. Their prices goes as low as $ 5+ tax to as expensive as more than $ 100, depending on what you get so it’s kind of hit or miss. But with the prices they charge, it’s actually much more cheaper than what you would normally find on amazon or eBay. They also offer things like headphones, shirts, accessories and posters. All and all, I would say HMV are definitely a good place to go visit if you are into movies and tv shows.

I didn’t use to shop at HMV, but ever since they started carrying non-music items like the Star Trek pizza cutter and all sorts of Big Bang Theory items, I’ve been going back for more. Their prices for those items are actually cheaper than some of the online sites which purport to be the only ones carry that item.
