Good Cantonese style food. They also have some dishes that are difficult to find in other restaurants. Great prices and value. This is a hidden gem. We now frequent here as our regular eatery.

My family and I visited double one for a dinner service when it was relatively empty at best. The server was nice in letting us take our time to figure out what we wanted to order as we couldn’t agree on three dishes for the four of us to share. When we’d agreed and ordered, the food was relatively quick to be brought out, but unfortunately that’s where the good service ended. We asked for water(since by default you are only served tea) and we had to remind the waitress twice before she finally brought it out. Additionally she forgot our side order of rice until we reminded her about it as well. The noodles we ordered weren’t hot enough to last the entire eating of the meal and went cold about halfway through. The chicken with Chinese mushrooms was good but lacked much chicken and the same could be said for the curry chicken as well. I have to say, three dishes was the perfect amount for four people. If you’re looking for relatively affordable Chinese food in this area, Double One will be satisfying, but you might catch the service on an off day

They serve very reasonably priced lunch specials during the weekdays. At $ 6.99 each, I always leave full with leftovers. The food is somewhat westernized Chinese food depending on what you order. There is also a small dim sum menu. The interior is very plain and minimal decorations. There is a live seafood tank for fresh crabs. I think this restaurant is worth the price for the amount of food you get during lunch. Food arrived fairly quickly.

Surprisingly, it’s not a hole in the wall as the exterior may indicate. It’s been awhile since last stepping in til earlier this week, when after a light skate to get back into shape from all the turkeys and stuffing, that we quickly dropped in, that we decide to instead. Not much ambiance here, and actually a lot bigger than it looks and classier than before. The tables have the traditional glass top with the table linen underneath, which actually is cleaner and faster to change tables. Honey garlic ribs were above average, worth going back simply for its cheap prices. Free parking in front. No amex ;(

$ 6 lunch special! Parking is available on Hastings during certain hours, or on the side streets as well. I thought the place would be a dumpy hole in the wall, but the place was surprisingly packed. The inside is dated 1980s, but who cares. The lunch specials are $ 6. The really awesome thing is that the dishes are large enough to feed 2 people. Yes, you can eat with a friend here for $ 3 a head. You can’t even do that at McDonald’s. Black bean chicken on fried noodle — actually quite good! Very generous on the chicken chunks, and did I mention the awesome large portion size? Sweet and sour pork on rice — lots of sesame seeds. Not too heavy on the sauce. And guess what? Large portions. And did I mention large portions? This is my new go-to lunch place. Sold.

It’s nothing fancy, but I like it! I come here with my family a lot because we like how they have old school Cantonese dishes like a whole deboned chicken with sticky rice attached to it. You need to order that dish ahead of time, and it is $ 40 but it is totally worth it. Their honey garlic spare ribs are so good. My cousin and I practically eat the whole plate. Honestly, all the dishes are a good size and value. For larger parties, they have set menus which are a steal. Eight people can eat for under $ 200. It is pretty awesome. Go check it out next time you are in Burnaby. The family that owns the restaurant is really sweet, too.

I came into this place as I needed a quiet place to study and eat. It was during a slow weekday evening so of course, the food came out quite quickly. The Chow Mein was ok. I also had the Beef and Gai Lan, which was equally ok. I have definitely had tastier and cheaper food but for what I needed at the time, it did the job. I’ll probably come back again if I need another quiet place to study and eat.

This place is good. I attended with my spouse for a group function. The exterior looks a bit rough but the food was plentiful and tasty. I will go again.

***TWOAND A HALFSTARS*** This used to be one of my favourite lunch places but over the past few years the quality of the food has gone down. They still have decent lunch specials. Small lunch specials, shared plates for larger groups. If you want fast and decent and fairly cheap — it is still an OK place to go. It just doesn’t taste as good as I remember it being.

This is as good as it gets in North Burnaby Folks! Good price, good food but if they’re busy hang up and order pizza!!! The lady works herself into a fluster when busy!!! or I would have given them a five star…

This is the best tasting Canadian Chinese food on the heights. For $ 5 – 6 from 11am to 3pm you can get very large portions of food and it helps when you come with a group because you can share for variety. If you don’t like MSG ask for no MSG.

We order take-out or delivery from here on a regular basis. The food is good and inexpensive. We always order the Dinner for 2(about $ 19.50 or less if you pick up yourself). Lots of food and leftovers, as well. The BBQ duck is also very good. A good choice for Chinese food delivery in Burnaby Heights.

This is for my friend, Mitchell, who apparently has a knack for cheap Chinese food. If the end result is cheap food comma then who cares about the quality. No wonder this place is packed for lunch. For 5 dollars, you get a large portion of blah Chinese food. However, I am hypocrite because I often frequent Double One for lunch. My excuse is 50k in student loans. What’s yours?
