We have been going to Chong Lum Hin for years. Dim sum, lunch, dinners and order in. Everytime we have experienced the food being freshly cooked, hot and plentiful. I would recommend this restaurant as my #1 in the lower mainland. We have visited many many restaurants in the lower mainland and by far this is the best. Typical drab decore and nothing fancy. If you want to go where the locals go this is it. Check their open hours as they close between lunch and dinner and are not open Tuesday nights. Very friendly staff and you might even get served by the cook himself! CJ — Burnaby

Great dim sum and great late night. The dishes are very good compared to other Chinese restaurants and pricing is great. I was craving dim sum some certain evening and the owner offered to have the cook make it. That was very nice of her. A must try! If coming on a Sunday, expect to wait for a table.

We had this place recommended by a friend, and had another friend who drives to take us here, otherwise we probably would have skipped coming here. Their dim sum dishes were quite good and tasty. Come in, get seated, order the tea you wish, we took their suggestion of Jasmine tea, get a tally order form, stroke the items and number you wish, turn in form, food appears on your table, freshly made. Missed spotting item 58 Jelly Fish with Sliced Beef Shanks CAD6.95. By the time I noticed, we had all this food already ordered, and was too full to order any thing else. Plenty of good tasting food here.

Don’t let the unassuming appearances fool you. Dim sum is outstanding. The Ladies are lovely and appreciate hearing you are happy with the food.

Solid dim sum! Good food good prices. I’d probably give it 4 stars if the service was close to reasonable. Unless you speak Chinese expect a difficult time with any inquiries other than simply penciling your order on the paper. Numerous times I’ve asked for… Water. Extra fork. Napkins and either no one comes back or they come back with a random item. There’s maybe only 2 of the 4 – 5 servers that remotely understand anything I say but I keep coming back because the food is great everything is good so can’t really recommend any specific food plates. A few tips, expect a wait during peak hours but they do serve their dim sum late night or in non dim sum hours if you ask the cost is a little higher but worth it to satisfy a late night craving. There’s free parking at the back and Tea is NOT free. They won’t tell you this and they’ll charge $ 1.25 per person so be mindful.

I came here as part of a party of 29 for dim sum. Out«tribe» consisted of Chinese and Caucasians, adults and 7 kids and we reserved the tables. Service was good and staff were pleasant. The dim sum was very good, plenty of variety. I would recommend this place even though it is a bit out of our way. Plenty of parking available in the lot behind the restaurant.

Stumbled here for some late night eats. New Westminster style. And by that I mean the place was open until 2300. This part of the city is otherwise pretty much completely dead. Parking is plentiful, as I’m sure most of the seniors have gone home by 1900. The place looks like a typical worn-down Chinese restaurant — many customers have come and gone over what is probably decades. Staff were quite friendly, and time-efficient — the 1 guy working dozed off at a nearby table while my friend and I munched away. I don’t blame him, as the place was otherwise completely dead. The only other conversation breaking the silence was from the TV. They do have late night dim sum here, though the waitress(and probably owner) insisted we order at least 2 dishes since she had to turn on the gas. Yup, authentic service. Food was decent quality. The rest of the late night dishes were quite typical. And by that I mean decent — just like what you’d find in Richmond or Vancouver. Ghetto but satisfying. I have been told that the dishes here are best shared with larger groups(there are combos available). Hoping this place survives — this is the only such place in the entire area.

After we found this restaurant a few years back, we’ve enjoyed many satisfying dim sim lunches and great celebratory and other family occasion dinners at Chong Lum Hin. We tend to order our favourites in small groups, and the set dinners in larger groups(birthday dinners, etc), and have gotten to know the staff fairly well. We have occasionally ordered takeout which we pick up. Oh, credit cards are OK over $ 20, they ask for cash if less. If you are looking for tasty Dim Sum, lunch or dinner meals, at reasonable prices in South Burnaby, give them a try!

Friend took me to this place for Dim Sum, we went on a Monday, ordered Dim Sum from the menu, they came out really fresh, every single one tasted so yummy, wish we had a bigger party to try other things on the menu! I’m not sure how good this Dim Sum is comparing to other Dim Sum restaurants in Vancouver, but it definitely beats the Dim Sum I used to get from Florida or Texas! Would recommend this dim sum place. Note that not all Dim Sum got pictures, be brave and try things you never have! Dim Sum is so goooooood!

Absolutely delicious Dim Sum served twice daily, either from 10 am to 3 pm or from 9pm to midnight, so they’re great for a late evening snack. If you like prawns, you’re in the right place! I’m pretty sure the prawns with spicy salt should be registered as an addictive substance. Their dumplings are suberb. The pork Shiu Mai are favorites, as are the prawn with chives, but any choice will please. Service is prompt, smiling and friendly, and if you’re more comfortable with a fork than chopsticks, nobody will sneer. There is also a regular menu from 4:30 pm to midnight, but I’m a fan of the Dim Sum and haven’t checked it out much.
