I used to come here for the gym because it was close to where I lived but recently moved closer to Eileen daily and all I can say is that this place is severely undersized and there isn’t much good equipment to use. I don’t recommend coming here for the gym at all as there are usually a good number of people all cramped into the tiny space they have.

A great community centre, with a library, a gym, and a huge seniors centre which is always bustling with senior activities. I’ve gone there many times with a small friend for the Baby Busy Bees program, which is led by Shirley on Thursday mornings. It covers a wide age range(from infants through 3 years of age), and takes place in a large gym-like room with tons of toys and play equipment. The play is unstructured, with parents/caregivers accompanying and supervising children at all times in their games & interactions, and children can take turns or play together in the various centres, including an art project(e.g. painting, or gluing craft pieces on a piece of seasonally-inspired paper). After play time, the group gathers for snack & circle time, with a short story and singing games before saying good-bye and getting a sticker. It was a huge hit with this particular preschooler, and his sadness upon turning 4 and being«too big for Busy Bees» was a topic of conversation for quite a while, as he processed the loss of this fun activity from his weekly calendar. As far as Rec Centre’s go, this one is pretty good. They offer a wide range of fitness activities including squash courts, spin classes, indoor tennis, gymnastics and weight training. I used to come here almost everyday to go use the weight room. Decently priced, about $ 40 a month for a membership to the Rec Centre. As far as the weight room goes, its pretty small in comparison to the bigger gyms close by(Good Life, Steve Nash). As a result, if there are more than 20 people in there, it becomes way over crowded. However they have a fair bit of cardio equipment(about 4 treadmills, 5 bikes, a stair climber) a large section of free weights and almost every necessary weight machine a gym could need. If you’re looking for an affordable gym facility and appearance is not an issue, sign up here.

Spin Classes! Yep, that is what it is all about for me and this Rec Centre. I have been going to this place for the last couple of years and get totally addicted to the spin classes. Mind you there are some great instructors and some so, so instructors. I tend to stick with those that I think are great and they keep me coming back a couple times a week. The so, so ones kinda go on my back up list for when I can’t make it to one of the great classes. I love spin! Also they have squash courts here. So fun! As for the rest of the activities that go on at the Rec Centre I can’t tell you much about them as I’ve only ever dont spin classes and squash. One thing to note about this Rec Centre is that it isn’t in the best of neighbourhoods and if you lock up your bike here there are big chance it will get stolen. So either just drive or ask the reception if you can bring your bike inside. They will hold it in the back room for you, if they like you.
