Bryan’s Bride

I had initially visited the Bryan’s bridal store at the Brentwood mall location back in February to look for a fancy dress to wear for a special occasion. The store manager and sales representatives were quite friendly and helpful. After buying a dress during their 50% off sale, I went home with the dress to realize that the manager had forgotten to take off the security tag.
Because I was leaving the country for the next 7 months, I did not have time to go back to the store to get the tag removed.
Since then, I have not touched the dress until a couple of days ago and i visited the store yesterday night to ask to talk to the manager. The manager, Adrianna was incredibly rude and ignored my request of seeing if I could bring in the dress to get the security tag removed. She was completely skeptical and forcefully agreed that she would take a look at the dress. I told her the tag was still on but i did not have the receipt as it was purchased 7 months ago. She brushed me off completely as i made my way out of the store.
Today, i brought the dress back and again she treated me with the same unfriendly, judgemental attitude claiming that she does not recall selling that dress to me. After calling head office, she realized that indeed I was correct and removed the security tag in shock.
Although she honoured it, i would say customer service is beyond below average and I am happy to say that this is the first and last time i shop here, as whether or not the customer is right or wrong, they should always be treated with respect. I would recommend double check to see if all security tags are removed as competency is lacking. It seems that they also have a problem admitting to their wrong and was not apologetic at all which allowed an unhappy customer to walk out their doors.

This is where I purchased my wedding dress in 2013, had an excellent consultant (who no longer works for the company) and a poor experience with the rude alterations team.
Fast forward 2 years, we visited the store for my sister’s wedding. This was the first store she went to, our consultant was so rude immediately after talking to my sister about her budget (average budget) and suggested we «start over there» gesturing to a single sales rack. We also pointed out a dress on one of the mannequins that we thought would be nice and inquired about the price and trying it on. In a huff she said let’s work with these and see how far we get okay. So she helps my sister into the first dress, nothing special and as my sister says no she starts ripping the corset back and pushing her back into the change room. Dress number 2 she told my sister to not bother coming out as it looked terrible. I’m all for straight opinions but that was a bit harsh. After that my sister told her not to bother with the others and we left. Rude. Snotty. Small selection of dresses. Significantly more expensive than the other bridal shops in NW or on Hastings.
Bottom line: I do not wish this place on my worst enemy. If I could rate negative 5 I would gladly do so. Don’t waste your time here.

We left laughing from this place and our experience. I had gone to 3 stores in Seattle and fell inlove with 15 dresses the day before coming here– every dress i had tried on looked amazing. I came here and not only was the fabric SUPER CHEAP material, but the dresses were so ugly. They had the right styles in mind but it was the first time that none of the dresses looked right on me and it was due to the poor quality.
The consultant blamed me not liking anything on having found the dress i love already and of course they said that theres no chance i could walk away from their store not liking anything… so the only reason is that ive already found my dress elsewhere– well we werent going to say anything and be rude so we didnt correct her that i had actually fallen inlove with 15 dresses because they were NICER!
The day after coming here i actually went to Sposa and found even more beautiful dresses and bought my dress from there.
The dresses from all the other bridal stores versus this one is like night and day– and they have the nerve to price up their dresses to the cost of real designer dresses. The material was just so cheap. They even brought out a «designer dress» for me that looked like the bride of chucky dress!
I recommend going elsewhere as it was the only place that i felt the material was so cheap and unflattering and the only place that nothing looked good put on.

Bryan’s Bride was the first bridal boutique that I visited during my bridal dress shopping experience. I have to say that Kaylee was the sweetest and nicest girl to work with — especially since she was new to Bryan’s Bride. She gave me wonderful feedback and made me feel comfortable and beautiful in the dresses that I had tried on. Sadly, I did not purchase my dress from there, but I highly recommend having Kaylee as your consultant.

My girlfriend went looking for dresses and was basically ignored, treated poorly I would definitely not recommend them

I called your Brentwood store yesterday morning and asked if I could come and just look at the wedding dresses.
I was told sure come on in no problem. I am not getting married till April and just wanted to take a look and see what its out there.
When I came into your store I was first totally ignored and when one of your staff did approach me I was told I had plenty of time still to purchase a dress and then she said the Plus dresses are over there but you can’t try any on with out an appointment.
Yes I am a Plus Size doesn’t matter if it’s for medical reasons like me or because a woman eats too much. I said thank you and walked away and looked a the small rack of plus size dresses. When she walked away I went back and looked at the other again. I was afraid I would get in trouble for looking at all of them. Finally I went over and looked at the bridesmaid dresses and there was another staff member but even though I had questions I was afraid to open my mouth.
After losing my dad 16 years I never thought I would find happiness. Planning my wedding has been so much fun. Bryan’s and your staff made my first experience at shopping for a gown a huge disappointment. It should have been a happy fun and enjoyable day for me. I have never been treated in the manner your staff treated me.
I wanted to find one at your location because you are close to my whole wedding party.
On another note. Your dresses are dirty and musty looking and I would never in a million years want to try any on.
Your bridesmaid and other dresses seem to be something I would find a thrift store and very outdated.
There was not one dress that I would even consider for myself or my bridal party.

This was my first time wedding dress shopping and I had a great experience. I made an appointment for a Sunday afternoon and the store was empty, so I had all of the attention. My consultant has been there for many years and is very good at what she does, helping me to find the best style for my body, which was not what I thought would look good! I fell in love with two dresses and decided to sleep on it. I didn’t feel any pressure to decide right then and there and was told I could call in when I made the decision. One downside is they don’t let you take pictures, so it’s hard to remember what each dress looked like if you’re trying to choose. Plus I like to see how things look in pictures.

To book an appointment, they will just ask for your wedding date.
This was my first bridal shop and I was eager to tell her all about what kind of gown I was looking for, the style, material, ceremony setting, etc … You know, I thought she would just go to the back and get a couple of dresses within my description and get me to try them.
Well, she did take me to the back (which is, I mean, the back of the front desk, where the gowns are stored). And told me to browse within the racks around my size, and put a colour paper clip to the gowns I’d like to try.
No, she never asked about what kind of gown I was looking for, and when I started telling her, she ran to the door. I thought she was busy, but there was nobody in the store … (?)
The paper clips are because we can’t move the dresses ourselves, and this way she knows which rack they come from and can put them back in. No big deal.
So I clipped a hadful of them and decided I was ready for ‘action’.
She brought one at a time to the (tiny) fitting room, and then you walk outside to the round platform with mirrors all around you.
She wasn’t overly enthusiastic in helping, I even think she forgot to get some of the dresses I had clipped (now that I think about it …).
Their racks was divided into «sale» section (of all sizes in one rack, prices starting at about $ 350 per what I remembered), «regular» section (divided by sizes, prices around $ 1,500 and up), and a «informal» section (just one rack with all sizes, prices from $ 850 to a few thousand dollars).
The bridesmaid section is divided by colours. They don’t have a lot of sizes to try on, and she said they normally order them out (about 3 months to get them).
I asked if we could order any modifications at all (for example: dress in one colour, attached belt in another; or a bit longer) she said «absolutely not. They all come from China the way they are displayed here. We just order the model, colour and size.»
Selection wasn’t great, but she said they were about to receive more (wedding gowns, not bridesmaid dresses), so to check back later.
So, there you have it.
They weren’t pushy (which is good), nor very helpful (not so good), hence the 3 stars.

This was stop 4 out of 5 on the quest for a perfect wedding dress for my BFF. The front of the store was actually quite nice — gowns are nicely spaced out and they seemed to have a decent variety. The consultant was so hands off, she might as well not have been there. BFF tried on a number of dresses, but none lived up to some of the spectacular ones she had tried on at Lisa’s or Bridal Gallery earlier in the day. On top of this they seemed a lot less detailed, yet on average anything she liked here was at least $ 500 more expensive! We also took a brief look at Bridesmaid dresses but did not spot anything worth trying on.

I came here twice to look for bridesmaids’ dresses and was completely underwhelmed by the experience. Most places don’t require to make an appointment to try on bridesmaids’ dresses and are very accommodating. Not so at Bryan’s!
The first time I was part of a group of three, and the salespeople, while not rude, were largely unhelpful. We helped ourselves. As it turned out, nothing really matched what the bride wanted so we left.
The second time around I came in on my own looking for a specific brand (Bill Levkoff). The store was pretty much empty… there was maybe one party looking for a bridal gown. The two people at the front were the definition of unhelpful. One was on the phone talking to her friend the entire time, and another one looked like she was being fed a steady diet of sour lemons, her face was so dour. I browsed dresses on my own, let myself into one of the many many empty changing rooms, and left.
I have a friend whose experience in shopping for bridal gowns wasn’t any better; as she was getting married within 3 months, they refused to help her at all and sent her away.
Wouldn’t recommend. Take your hard earned money elsewhere!

I must warn people away from Bryan’s.
The short version:
1. our dresses ended up costing twice as much or more than the rack rate
2. They broke on the day of the wedding!
3. Management said they could do nothing to compensate us
The long version:
I was recently a bridesmaid in a wedding, and I wish we had read reviews prior to shopping here! We had to pay a rush order on our dresses since the wedding was 2 months away. We were all advised that we would require alterations since apparently the dress the bride chose fits nobody (I apologize, I’m a bit bitter, can you tell?) Fair enough, we were warned.
Our $ 225 dress with rush fee ended up at $ 365 after tax.
When the dresses arrived, the store did not call us to advise they were in. We all had to call separately and follow up.
When we picked up the dresses, all needed costly alterations, minimum charge $ 90, and two of us were upsold bras/​boustieres for an additional $ 90 since we were told the dresses would «fit better».
I took my dress away and got my alterations done elsewhere since Burnaby wasn’t convenient for me to get to for fittings and repeated visits to the store.
The punchline… on the wedding day, the hook and eye latches on 3 of the 4 dresses broke. One of us took the eyes off her bra in order to fix the dresses since two of the three broken dresses didn’t even have eye latches!
I did email the store to complain of poor workmanship and Karen called to discuss it with me. She advised that the dresses we chose were the highest quality they sell (yikes) and she offered to fix the dresses for us. I don’t plan on wearing mine again so I didn’t need that. She also offered a 10% discount off of any dress in the store. These options don’t replace the bra that was ruined to fix the dresses. Karen’s opinion was that we didn’t have to fix the dresses, that was our choice. All true.
Overall, a disappointing experience. I will stay far away from this store in the future and advise everyone who cares about quality and service to do the same.

After recently getting engaged, I popped into Bryan’s Bride on a bit of a whim. I didn’t have an appointment but they squeezed me in with a consultant and we began to try on dresses right away. I really had no idea what I was looking for but the consultant was super helpful in giving me some good ideas for at least what type of style I wanted. I decided that I wanted to check a few other places before I commited to anything and they were very understanding and did not pressure me at all. Even though they do have beautiful dresses, I did find «the dress» at another store. However, I couldn’t find exactly the veil or accesories to top everything off so I decided to come back to Bryan’s. I can be pretty picky, and I must have spent at least 45 mins just trying on veils. The girls were so helpful and gave really good advice. I never felt pressured or like I was being irritating, even with all my indecisiveness. I would totally recommend Bryan’s to any bride looking for her dress or accessories who wants honest opinions and helpful, no-​pressure service.

I had a great experience at Bryan’s Bride. Rachelle was my consultant and she was very helpful in finding my dream dress. I never felt pressured to buy anything and she was very patient with my indecisiveness. I went back twice to the store to try on dresses (2 of which I was debating between), she had no problems putting me back into each of them at least 3 – 4 times each. She offered her honest opinion when I asked for her input. She was respectful of my budget and offered great suggestions on how I could accessorize my gown. She was also very courteous and calming when she could see I was getting stressed out about making my final decision.
The store itself is laid out very well. Well lit and lots of mirrors. My only minor complaint was they didn’t have any dresses that I liked that were in my size (size 2 – 4). But after Rachelle helped lace me up and clip the dress to fit me, I had a pretty good idea what the dress would look like when I ordered it to my size.
I’ve ordered my dress, and now it’s just a 4−6month wait until it comes in… sooo excited!!!

I came to Bryan’s Bride at Brentwood Mall on my search for the perfect wedding dress. My now sister in law recommended it because it has a huge selection of off-​the-​rack wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and flower girls dresses. We made an appointment for 10 am on a Monday morning. As can be expected, the store was really quiet.
Our consultant, Hayley, was really friendly. She recommended that we started out by picking out a few dresses off of the racks to try on. The dresses were organized nicely, making it easy to pick out a bunch. The dressing rooms themselves are small, but the lighting is great and there are plenty of mirrors around. Hayley was really cheerful, and offered her own opinion on all of the dresses I tried on. She found me tons of options within my price range, and found some others that she felt would work with my body type.
While there were tons of options, I found a lot of the dresses and accessories were lacking a little excitement. I must have tried on over 20 dresses in the store, but I was a little underwhelmed. Maybe I just have a different taste in dresses than other girls, and that’s okay :)
My favorite thing about this store is the lack of pretentiousness. Unlike other bridal stores, there was no air of «oh, your budget is only $ 2000?!?» or «you simply HAVE to buy your dress 6 months ahead». It’s a relaxed atmosphere, and that’s what you need in a store like this.
If you’re on the hunt for a wedding dress, I’d actually recommend you start somewhere like Bryan’s Bride, which has racks and racks of options that are all reasonably priced. That way, you can at least start narrowing down what sort of dress you want on your wedding day.

This was my first stop on my two day tour of bridal stores. It’s a lovely large store with tons of bridal and special occasion dresses. I filled out my little form and was lead in to the dress area. You get four clips to put on the dress bags of dresses you would like to try and are left alone to look around.
The fitting rooms were brightly lit and I liked that it was a fully closing door, instead of a fabric curtain. My consultant wasn’t the cheeriest of ladies, but was very nice and super helpful. There were no other appointments going on while we were there, which was nice. My consultant went off what I liked in dress styles and was able to suggest other options. I found a lovely silk dress but parts of it wasn’t what I was looking for. She immediately brought over a similar dress by the same designer to see if it would work instead and outlined changes that could be made to ensure the dress was perfect.
While I didn’t buy a dress at this location, I had an excellent appointment and appreciated having an honest consultant.

I’ll agree with Donna S. — Bryan’s bridal is the way to go if you are looking for classic dresses. They are a huge variety of dresses in a variety of sizes, so it’s nice to see a dress that is in your size. However, if you are looking for simple silhouettes for a casual wedding, Bryan’s is not the place to go. I was told they had a vast «destination» section only to get there and realize they actually are a few, which I might add look really dated.
Can’t really give them a bad review since other bride’s seem to be really happy with their finds. The word «couture» was thrown around the entire time I was there, so maybe I am just a simple girl trying to find a simple dress in a fantasy wedding dress store.

This store is worth checking out — huge selection, many of the classic brands you see in the wedding mags — alfred sung, pronovias, sophia tolli, mori lee, alfred angelo, san patrick, Blue, etc. Although many of the dresses are the ‘traditional’ bride style (long train, satin, poofy skirts) due to the selection there is something for everyone. Less in the way of simple, destination styles but they do have some. Also as the store is large, it does not feel overly crowded. My customer service girl was fine — not out of this world but attentive, nice, not pushy. They also have an awesome off the rack section where I ended up finding my dress — perfect fit, style and colour! Alterations are expensive here but I have heard they do excellent service so when it comes to an important purchase like a wedding dress paying a more for quality is probably worth it. Dress prices are average — but you can get some great deals with the sale and off the rack sections.

We were just a day or so under the «order your size three months ahead» limit, but they had some (I guess old samples) for sale and there was one that fit her exactly! It was ivory, like my dress, and had artificial rose petals in it that were the same colours as the two that I was using!
I also got my bridesmaid’s dress here.
We went early enough for her to order her size. We had looked at catalogues before, and had decided we wanted a soft pink of a certain pattern. The lady told us, however, that that dress only came in a magenta pink. She suggested that we get the baby blue version instead. That would not go with the rest of my plans… Good thing we stuck around and browsed, since I found a kids’ size version of the same dress in the soft pink that we wanted. After showing her that, we got to order the right one.
For flower girl and bridesmaid, we were not told that we needed an appointment.
I don’t remember outright rudeness, but I agree with the other reviewers that the salespeople could be more helpful.

My gf just got engaged so we decided to come to Bryan’s bride to check out their stock. I’d heard that they had the largest stock in Canada (from the store itself it’s hard to tell) so we strolled right in, sans appointment, which was nice. The gal at the front desk arranged for us to have our own consultant to work with, and we were on our way… kind of.
Our consultant asked my friend her budget and if she planned to mak a purchase that day. Because her budget is small and she was just wanting to see what’s out there before she buys (obviously) it seemed at first like she lost interest in us.
My gf saw higher priced dresses that she wanted to try out of curiosity and the consultant strongly urged her against it. I can see how it probably gets annoying seeing people try on dress after dress, but to a newly engaged gal, it’s special. The consultant reluctantly agreed, clarifying that she didn’t want my friend to feel overly torn by falling in love with a dress out of her budget. I can see her point, and I did feel like the meant for the best, but it was a bit of a killjoy!
My gf tried on a few dresses that she loved and then the assistant said we could think about them. I would have loved it if she’d have let my friend try on more, but that’s ok. Next time we won’t disclose budget so that she can get a feel for a variety of styles.
The bonus is that they have a lot of off the rack sizes so you won’t necessarily need to rely on clips to see how the dress would fit. Score!

I had only a couple of months to find a dress, so my friend suggested Bryan’s Bride for off-​the-​rack options. We went first thing in the morning and were greeted by two ladies at a desk. They told us that all the dresses were off-​the-​rack, so feel free to have a look around ourselves, but there were no consultants available to help us. That was fine, so my friend and I went in and browsed on our own. To be honest, while there were lots of dresses to choose from, most of the styles weren’t very appealing and the fabrics were low-​quality. And if you’re a smaller size, forget it. There was very, very little selection below a size 6.
I found just a couple of possibilities and went to try them on. There was a huge row of fitting rooms along the back of the store and only one was being used, but an associate brusquely told us we were not supposed to pull any dresses ourselves, and we needed an appointment to try anything on. Well, thanks, you could have told us that at the front desk and saved us from wasting our time! My friend and I ended up going to Bliss Bridal in New Westminster, a bridal consignment shop, where I found and bought a beautiful brand name, silk dress that I LOVE.
I won’t be recommending Bryan’s in the future.
