Gus and Guidos

This is our second time, we first tried this place shortly after it opened and heard all the good reviews. I was disappointed the first time and never came back until yesterday, thought it was time to give them another try.
Still, I wonder why this place is popular. Servers are unprofessional, loud and animated at the POS and bar area in plain site of customers. They a gather there joke around and watch TV while tables need to be cleared and customers wait.
It took a while to get our drink order placed, but our food came out in a timely manner. My chicken was over cooked –dried out. The asparagus was also over cooked and the stem end weren’t trimmed properly. The lamb my wife had was good, the best thing brought to the table. Our bill was over $ 100 — 1 app — 2 entrees and 1 draught and 1 wine.
After coming here twice, I can tell you that the service is ok, the food is barely okay and the price for quality of food is way too high… I still don’t understand why this place gets good reviews. No third try.

I wish zero was an option. After waiting almost 40 minutes for our food… We found hair in the food, lobsters digestive system leaked all over our plates, including the very dry steak. Unsympathetic waitress with snide comments, the best experience was the hostess and her trying to make the situation as we walked out. Live and learn will never go there again.

This restaurant is superb from the owners right down to the hostess. The atmosphere is classy and the food is excellent, for instance their Caesar salad was one of the better ones I have had with home made dressing.
I am not sure how this place has a 3 star rating it is easily a 4 star restaurant. If you’re looking for an an above average restaurant in Brantford Gus and Guidos is an excellent pick.

Chef Steve! You rock! I ate so much I can’t feel my legs. But after that shot of Ouzo I don’t care!
My only regret is I have no room for desert… Your hand made Cheese cake looks really good.
Seriously, the Chicken Pomadora was amazing. I added a side of Spaghetti Bolegnese with meatballs. My plan was to STOP eating half way through and take it home. But I just couldn’t! It was too good! Before I knew it, my plate and bowl were empty…

This restaurant has a great selection of Italian and Greek dishes. The food we had was very good overall and the service was good too. The atmosphere was very nice for a nice dinner on the town. The portion size were good and prices were okay for the food you received.

The director of the agency I work for treated my entire office to lunch here about a week ago. Because I heard good reviews about it, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, as did my entire table. I started with a caesar salad. I must agree with previous reviews that it was not good at all. The croutons were clearly those hard and nasty things you get from a box, and the «parmesan cheese» was that powdery stuff that nobody likes. Also they put waaaaay too much dressing on it. The spaghetti and meatballs more than made up for the gnarly salad, however! It was absolutely delish! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the marinara sauce was fresh and rich. The meatballs were ok, your standard italian restaurant meatball, and the garlic toast was awesome! They do list 4 meatballs on the menu and every one of us at my table only received 3. I’m assuming they tried to skimp as much as possible because there was at least 40 of us… Anyway, I will definitely go there again and order the spaghetti and meatballs again! I think I’ll skip the caesar salad, though…

Awesome place! The souvlaki platter with Chicken was amazing. Our waitress was so attentive, kind, and thoughtful that she put a smiley cream face in my soup. Delicious!
I would definitely return and hopefully sooner rather than later

When it first opened up in Brantford, I had great expectations. I have gone a few times but the food is only mediocre. The décor is quite nice and similar to the many chain restaurants. I find that the caesar salad tastes like it came out of a box. The croutons were rather stale. The waitress was accommodating though, but retorted that they go through the caesar a lot, basically saying that my opinion meant nothing. I have been to 5 star restaurants and I know what a good caesar salad tastes like and when FRESH cheese is used and when the powdered crap is used. The game meat I tried seemed rather dry, but I’m not sure if that is how it is normally.

When we first arrived we really liked the atmosphere and the building. For an appetizer we had flaming saganaki cheese on bread. Wow! It’s was amazing. Then I ordered parmesan chicken. The chicken was raw and when I sent it back the manger came out and was very rude. Then after 20 minutes (after the rest of my family had finished dinner) I got it back and it was burnt. Being fed up we left. We will not be returning.

Very friendly staff. The owner/​chef came by for an entertaining chat. And the steaks with shrimp and roasted potatoes were very good.
This was our first visit. The food was brought out relatively quickly, but we were there at around 5:00 on a Friday and it wasn’t very busy. But by the time we left, the place was packed, with people filling all available free space waiting to get a table. This place is clearly popular.

Best steak i have ever had, chicken parm is the best telling all my family and friends about it

typically very busy but service staff is good at getting you to your seat. have eaten there a couple of times food is decent, a little expensive, but tasty. you never leave this restaurant hungry.

Don’t waste your time or money, I will make this short, the service was horrible, the waiter was a slug, it was obvious from the get go that it was the son of the owner and he didn’t want to be there, although some of the food was good, one of our partly nearly wore the water that was spilled by our waiter, the dirty knife that he shook off of the side plate for our guest, instead of getting him a clean one, we had to ask not only to order our dinner but also for our bread basket, water refills, and repeat our entrée orders a couple of times, yet two were still wrong, side plates were gone, bread basket and toppings removed from the table while we were still eating them, my dinner was late but came out without the stuffed sole which had been burnt, so rice, potatoes and seasonal vegetables were eventually brought out with the promise that sole would be out soon, finally it did arrive but it was not cooked. While trying to return it the chief came out to tell me that the customer was always right but that I was wrong he was the chief and it was cooked, sorry but opaque fish is undercooked I prefer mine white a flakey, you know like you get at other restaurants. Anyway the last time I went with friends, 2 out of the 4 of us were extremely sick following the meal, I shall say no more; I think this should be enough.

Worst service I’ve ever had! Even the manager was rude when we sent uncooked food back «the customer is always right but your wrong» well in that case I’ll never be back

Fantastic Food. The steak was AMAZING. $ 20 – 24 for a FANTASTIC steak meal, plus you get a nice free bread appetizer with various spreads.
The atmosphere was very friendly and the chef even came by to ask how everything was. Very family oriented, but upscale and classy. Probably more geared towards older family or a couples night out though I did see a few kids there.

While visiting family, we had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic greek/​italian hybrid restaurant. Good helping of all the best of both cultures to satisfy. Huge portions so be prepared to take some home! Great ambiance as well. Highly recommended. Will definitely be going back soon!
