The Frigate & Firkin

A nice bar for a date or catch up with friends. I ordered chicken tacos and a rum with coke. My boyfriend ordered a poutine. Fries tasted stale as if they had been sitting out for awhile. The server took care of it and brought a fresh one out… tasted a lot better. She reassured us she was taking care of it. It was a pleasant experience and I liked the atmosphere… it was cozy.

Nice pub! Warm atmosphere and active staff. Good beer selection and mixed drinks are decent.
Parking lot can be a nightmare but it’s in a good central location.
Very good for groups, has a patio, can get tables put together and after dinner there is pool or darts in the back.

Shepherd’s pie was not what I expected but was delicious and perfectly filling. Excellent service. Metered pours, maybe stick to beer and wine. I tried one of their summer cocktails and it was delicious

Ok so this place was packed when we walked in… Good sign!
Along the edges were booths to chill with your friends and a few beers and then up a few steps was the bar, packed with standing room only and people just casually mingling.
In the back there are two or were there three pool tables? Anyways, this is the serious pool playing crowd, you have to place your bet and then play against the winner to either win or lose another turn to play. It’s a little bit unfortunate for someone like myself who would probably get smoked out of the water in 10mins by these poolsharks and then never play again for the rest of the night…
Good thing there are two dart boards, no competition here, just friendly play with a friend or in my case a stranger who was open enough to teach me how to play and work on my terrible throwing techniques.
In the end there is nothing too special about this place, but the friendliness of everyone around, and no fights breaking out at closing time give this place some good stars in my books.

Great place. our waitress was great too. she was fast. the food was great. I will come back here again

My softball team and I hit up this place, of which some teammates are regulars. Our waitresses name was «Shark Bait» as she was bitten by a shark once (with the scar to prove it). She was very friendly and really on the ball with our big group. The food was pretty standard for a pub.
