Another in the usual flurry of temporary Halloween shops is Creepers, located in the Quennedy region of B-town. After having a great time in Spirit Halloween, I was curious to see how another one would hold up. For starters, both places had great, friendly service, which was nice. In terms of costume selection, they both seem pretty similar. I mean really, people like going with the safe bet costumes, and I liked what both stores had to offer. Creepers also offers a fitting room, which is nice. One edge that Creepers has over Spirit is their mask selection. When trying to find a mask for the Unilocal Masquerade, Spirit really came up short, unless the 20 or so inexpensive masks count. Sure, Creepers didn’t have THAT many inexpensive masks, but the ones they had were vastly superior to Spirit’s offerings. Creepers wasn’t without its drawbacks though. I really liked how Spirit had mirrors all over the place to try on masks without having to hit the fitting room, and that was sorely missed with this place. Spirit also had a much larger selection of animatronics for the house decorators. In the end, I’d be hard-pressed to announce a winner. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I guess it all depends on what you’re looking for, but you really can’t lose with either. Added bonus: For my less than $ 5.00 purchase here, I also received a $ 10-off coupon for Boston Pizza. Groovy.
