The Guild of Automotive Restorers was established in 1991 was founded by David Grainger and Janice Stone.

History

Established in 1991.

Established in 1991 by David Grainger and Janice Stone, The Guild of Automotive Restorers is a world renowned facility involved with the repair, restoration and sales of classic and antique cars. It is also the home of the world broadcast television series Restoration Garage and has been featured on numerous other TV shows, on radio and in print. Even Jay Leno has featured The Guild’s work on Leno’s Garage.

In 2013 The Guild’s Bugatti Aerolithe project won the International Historic Motoring Award car of the year and more recent projects have been seen at the Pebble beach concours d’Elegance 2014 and this year at The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2015 in Italy.

Of course these accomplishments aside, The Guild is very pleased to work on cars that it deems more important to the hobby, the cars driven by enthusiasts for ice cream on a warm summer evening, cars that are old family retainers, cars that are the realization of dreams and cars that are just plain fun.

David G.

Business Owner

David Grainger is amongst other things, a columnist with the National Post and currently writes a weekly column in the Post. He has been a regular contributor to the Post both before and after spending several years writing for the Globe and Mail another prestigious national financial daily as well as other publications, both Canadian and US. His current columns deal with his own particular slant on the automobile, its history and the industries surrounding it.

Grainger is also President and Co-​founder of The Guild of Automotive Restorers, one of the largest classic and antique car restoration companies in North America and counts amongst his international client base individuals ranging from film and television stars to captains of industry and famous financiers.

Grainger started writing in the 1970s where his columns dealt with wildlife and the environment. He wrote for papers in the Kitchener Waterloo area including the Kitchener Waterloo Record and was a well known Wildlife Artist
