As consultant for martial arts schools I am afforded the opportunity to visit schools all around the country and take classes to evaluate their level of quality, friendliness and instruction. Lewis Karate School was a pleasant surprise indeed. I thought from the name that I would be practicing in a karate class but after being greeted by a really friendly staff I was given a Jiu-Jitsu Gi and directed to mats. Later I learned that this was one of the Royler Gracie Jiu-Jitsu schools and that karate was just one of the many programs that they offered their clients. The level of instruction was quite good and the attitude of the students made the entire experience very enjoyable. Being in my late fifties I have to pick and choose who to roll with to avoid getting hurt but at this school everyone was safety conscious and respectful of their partners, needless to say I had a great time. If you live in Barrie then this is the school for you. They probably aren’t the cheapest but quality training seldom is and these instructors are well worth the price. I was only there for a few days but over that time I was made to feel very welcomed and saw a lot of happy martial artists having a great time, both young and the more mature, like myself. Check them out, you’ll be glad you did!
