Food is over priced. $ 15.95 for a vegetable maki set … Toronto prices… Doesn’t even come with soup and salad … 3 rolls of 6 pieces. Tasted bland and avocado was over ripe $ 4.95 for a specialty soup… Was the same size a miso soup portion tasted good but not worth 5 $ Gyoza which is usually my fave was over cooked and dry though the dipping sauce was good California roll tasted fishy and was not edable

Such a great place. Our server Ellie was amazing, which is a big change from most sushi places. She was friendly and attentive and the food was quick and so delicious. I want to thank them for a great lunch!

My friends and I tried this place last night; two of our friends had been there before. PROS: AWESOME atmosphere – more intimate than Akira or Aji Sai. Food was tasty but not markedly better than the aforementioned restaurants. Service was great, though it’s hard to be sure if it was typical service because the restaurant was virtually empty. CONS: Some of the rolls fell apart easily. The salmon was a bit cold. One friend observed that the rolls were much bigger the last time he went. Another Unilocaler mentioned a possible change in ownership, so perhaps that’s the reason. The biggest con for me was the price: You will pay considerably more money, for less food, than you will at Akira or Aji Sai. The default tip option on the debit machine is 20%, which I found presumptuous. ***************************************************************************************** My final verdict: Give it a try if you’re looking to impress somebody, or if you’re looking for a change in sushi venue, but don’t expect something vastly better than the all-you-can-eat restaurants in Barrie.

I wouldn’t recommend this place for bait!!! So horrible and so sad to say. This place has been a regular stop for takeout on the way to the cottage for at least 10 yrs. It appears that it has recently changed hands and the new owners have killed the place. Our last order of rolls and assorted sushi was completely inedible. All of it, not just one dish. If you are lucky you will throw the food out before it makes you sick. When i called to let them know about our order I was met by an angry, obtuse and argumentative woman who was entirely disinterested. I wouldn’t recommend this place as a bait shop, let alone a restaurant. If anyone knows a good health inspector, send them in for a good time.

What a great find. Was craving sushi on our way home to Toronto from Blue Mountain and searched Unilocal.Favorable reviews and pictures of good sushi brought us here. Great quality food, wonderful service. Got up sold on the specialty rolls but they were excellent. Nice fresh rice. Only reason we don’t give it five stars is it was a little on the pricey side for a strip mall sushi place. But We would go back.

My sushi and sashimi plate was flat and uninteresting. Fish was cut sloppily and barely held on to the rice. Salmon below room temperature. Tuna and yellowfin were inedible and had a dingy, soil-like taste. Miso soup far too salty. Even for a drop-in instant sushi joint this was really sub-par. A shame, because the place is pretty cute and the staff very friendly. Won’t be back.

Canada Day and my regular places were closed. My backup sushi places were closed. Called around and found that Konoe was open! I ordered take-out– a medium sushi boat plus a Black Dragon roll for my oldest kid. Rather pricey but the quality and service were the best I’ve seen this side of Narita.(And, as an airline pilot– I’ve been around, baby!) Oh, and the chef offered me a sushi cone while I waited for my order, completely gratis!
