Best fish and chips in town. The only problem is the wait in the evening, so either phone in a order, or go for lunch.

My wife an I eat there every couple of weeks on Friday evenings. Sometimes we have to pass, because the lineup is too long. It’s always busy and not being a big fan of fish, this is the only place I would ever order it. The halibut and chips are always perfect, the batter light and tasty, and the chips are tender. They obviously change their oil on a regular basis. The service is usually prompt, but sometimes when their very busy it can be a bit slow, but its to be expected. However, they are always friendly and courteous, and this place is always high on my list of excellent places to eat.

Hello. Long time customer of Dannys, However this time I ordered the fish and chips I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived in 25 minutes and was told they are waiting on fresh fries. 15 minutes later I asked if I could have some of there homemade tartar sauce, she told me that it was another 50 cents. I asked since my order was called in 35 minutes ago could they throw one in the order for free. well she got very defensive and told me that since I was 5 minutes late the food would have been bad, Im assuming they gave it away or something. Nevertheless they wouldn’t give me a 50 cent tartar sauce. After I left I called back and asked to speak to the manager and the girl asked who was calling, I told her and she was laughing while yelling to him«its the guy who was yelling at me a minute ago», I spoke to the manager and explained the story and he just said ok thanks have a nice day. What a shame, to loose a customer over a 50 cent tartar sauce, after paying 45 dollars for the order. I’ll never be back, and I don’t they they really care anyways. Brian

First time Customer tonight, drove over to pick up. Staff was helpful as I explained we were new to the menu. Ordered to pieces of Halibut and three sides of fries for my Wife and I as the 2 Kids just wanted to try the fries. Also ordered a coleslaw. Order was up fast in under 10 minutes, all good. Got home to find no coleslaw and so called back to reach the Student Employee. No apology, just an indifferent«My bad». Asked her to credit my debit purchase, no go. Hmmm, you only get one first impression, right? The fries are really good, like a fries truck at the beach as they hit the spot. The fish was soft and tender, nice texture yet the batter is bland. You can tell they change the oil on a regular basis as everything was a golden yellow in colour. We however, lost our appetite when our cat whom we gave some halibut to eat while we were at the table threw it back up. Won’t go back, would not recommend.

Ordered the trio of fish, chips, and slaw. Really great fish. Chips were ok. Slaw, I wish it were creamy instead of plain. The fish is a really great deal with its price point. For this alone, I’d go back. Battered nicely, along with great moisture & tenderness of the fish. Mmmmm…

Best Fish & Chips in the GTA hand down! Second time visiting this establishment and it is as good as the first time just with waiting line on the entrance. We ordered the combination fish&chips«house recommended», and shrimp and chips Both portions were large, the fish was crispy and yet flaked the chips were bit dry but we’re preferring it like this than oily and dripping Shrimps were fried the correct amount and were very tasty. Service was fast and you did not need to look for the waitress for attention as she came few times to make sure we are happy. Judging by the wait line when we came and the line when we left — the place have made the name for itself. I’m happy to see that on our second visit the place is as good. Definitely a return place

Fish was under cooked, chips were stodgy. I got over charged by $ 14. They refunded me and then charged me for chips that I didn’t get. It’s beef dripping, but that’s the only redeeming feature. Quite disappointing after all these good reviews.

Great place tucked away in the area. For $ 12.75 I got the halibut and chips combo. The fish is huge! Usual fish and chips places only offer about 70% the size if this golden beast of a fish. The batter is crisp without being overly oily and the fish is thick, moist, yet still flakes at the same time. The chips it came with was a good amount but we’re a tad dry with no seasoning. Which would be OK if they were purposely going with the option of letting you add on the condiments on your own. However, with me purchasing it as take out I was surprised I didn’t get any ketchup salt or pepper on the side. Perhaps there was an area that I missed where I was suppose to pack this up myself, I’m not sure. But what I am sure is that I’m definitely coming back here again.

Not every day do you find a place where it feels like you’re getting served with the care of your mum but you can find that at Danny’s. We shared a plate of two halibut and chips and it was tasty! The fish has a very light batter and the chips were flavorful without the use of tons of salt. Next time your in or going through Barrie stop at Danny’s — it’ll be like you stopped at a chippy in England!

The service is absolutely perfect. It is like dining at home with the family. We had the fried scallops, shrimp and fish. The fish and chips were spectacular. We also tried the fried chicken finger which were really good as well. Desert was the real treat. The apple blossom was the best apple crumble I had ever had. The lemon merengue pie was also very very good. I cannot wait to come back and have more of this wonderful food.

I was there with my wife on the grand reopening of the new Danny’s at 411 Huronia Rd, and all I can say as an Englishman growing up on Fish and Chips is– Danny’s again win hands down with some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten anywhere in the world, great service and wonderful food that will have you going back time after time.
