The Swan and the Peacock Bed and Breakfast

I rented all four bedrooms of this lovely bed and breakfast for five nights. We were in town for a family event. Ayr is a very small town, convenient to Paris, Ontario, Brantford, Cambridge, Kitchener, St. Jacobs (Mennonite country), and even a day trip to Toronto.
Gail and Ralph Swan, the proprietors, could not have been friendlier and more helpful. They helped our family organize the visit to this part of Canada that I knew mostly from childhood memories. On Gail’s suggestion we took a guided kayak trip down the Grand River with Grand River Rafting Company. Our guide turned out to have planned the retraining program for the Mohawk culture for the Ontario government! He was so knowledgeable about First Nation life and was fascinating in the details he shared. Gail and Ralph also told us about the Mennonites and their farmers market, which I did not know about, and was very fun to go to.
Every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Gail, who also has a large tribe of «rescue» cats who live on the property, to the delight of our three teens. They were very entertained by all the cats and Gail’s stories. The «barn» has been turned into a recreation room which is perfect for a family like ours. The kids could stay up and have fun without disturbing the older folks.
Ralph is a woodworker and craftsman and has created many beautiful features on the property. Both he and his wife are great to talk with.
I hope I can return very soon to this wonderful, relaxing bed and breakfast.
