Probably you wouldn’t think that a grocery store is a good place to go to get a take out meal. However the takeout counter at sobeys Ancaster is really quite good. They offer a good variety of proteins including chicken breast, salmon, veal, and meatballs plus lasagna, stuffed peppers and shepherds pie. Once you have selected the main you can choose up to 2 sides from over a dozen choices that include asparagus, squash, peppers, potatoes and various roasted vegetables. You can also choose from a wide variety of salads including potato, macaroni, kale and others. Price for your meal ranges from $ 7 to $ 9. Serving sizes are quite good overall although I’ve noticed some of the servers will give you a bigger portion of sides than others. They also have a good selection of sushi at the sushi bar. Just around the corner are prepared salads again a lot of choices. They also have yummy sandwiches around $ 6 each. If this isn’t enough selection for you, they also have a lunch counter with udon noodle soups. My favourite meal is the veal cutlette with cheese and tomato sauce with asparagus and grilled peppers. The salmon is also very good but the portion is small. The meatballs are my daughter’s favourite. The stuffed peppers aren’t too bad. And the grilled chicken breast is also nice. If you are looking for a quick meal ready to go this is definitely a great place to go.

Sobeys in the meadowlands is very customer friendly. Even with the renovations going on they have really done a great job in keeping everything organized. I can’t wait until everything is back to normal. I’m a loyal customer.

Who needs an «occasion» to buy a 12″ cake?
We come here EVERY month for one thing: CAKE! They have a huge variety of cakes to choose from (even icecream cakes — in the freezer by the bakery!)
Oh! We should really get a trophy for having tried every cake they’ve made! From the Strawberry Short Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry, Mango Mousse, Double Chocolate Mousse, Fruit Cheesecake, Carrotcake, and Black Forest Cake. Am I missing any??? …
My parents love cake, so when we go visit them, we get the largest one there! Cake prices range from $ 15-​$ 30. For the cakes mentioned above, approx. $ 26.00/ per 12″ cake. Each cake has been delish! Some sweeter than others. My fave is the Strawberry Shortcake, cuz I like my desserts lightweight and semi-​sweet. And yes, they throw in complimentary greetings! But you have to ask for it!
