This place is amazing. This is, bar none, the best coffee I’ve ever had. This is literally a one man operation. There is one guy who roasts the coffe by hand in an old roaster from like 1919. This guy is such a sweet heart too. I was taking a bike tour around Kent. My tire was flat when I rode in so he went out of his way to grab one of his bike pumps then proceeded to pump up my bike tire for me! He even grabbed me a water since I was thirsty from by trip. I can’t wait to go back. I live in Vancouver so hopefully it won’t be long. If you are travelling to Harrison then this place is a definite must to visit.

While the world thinks Starbucks is the equivalent to Breaking Bad’s meth, The Back Porch roasts ‘meth’ coffee that would literally make Walter White kill in jealousy. One of my besties who lives in Chilliwack told me I must check out this place. It’s the only coffee she and her entire family buys. I was a tad skeptical but damn was she right. With the exception of 100% Kona Coffee, their Cuban Dark Roast is by far the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m no coffee snob and suck at describing coffee, but I guarantee you that you’ll get hooked. From strict word of mouth, the owners have been approached by Buyers from several grocery store chains wanted her to expand her operations so they could list in store. But being happy retired, the owners continue to turn them down. Imagine that! Linda(owner) also sells great hand-made pottery and other nick nacks as well as produce from her garden. Always fun to talk to. For those not able to drive out here, give them a call and they can ship you your order. Who woulda thunk. In Agassiz of all places!

I am usually not a fan or nick-nackery. I hate antiques, antique shopping and generally anything really old that people are suddenly saying is valuable. I also hate country kitsch and businesses that refuse to focus on doing one thing and doing that one thing well. So why do I like the Back Porch??? I don’t know. But I do. It’s cute, quaint(i also normally HATE quaint) stop on the Circle Farm Tour in Agassiz and you’ve got your pick of feeding the chickens and goats, looking through old antiques that I guess are kinda valuable(and some that are clearly not), sipping on some on-site roasted coffee or browsing through some on-site thrown pottery. Ya, a bit ADD, but there is kinda something for everyone here and the two owners could not be nicer and are really knowledgeable about what they sell. Mostly, they focus on the coffee(prices are great 11.50−14.50/lb) which is pretty amazing and pottery. But they also had a few bags of Cedar Isle Farm flour(normally only available through shares) and some Canadian wild rice(who knew we had wild rice!!!). While I resisted visiting this place for a second time, I was actually pretty happy we had stopped. I also got some cool shots. Go figure.
