History

Established in 2012.

For over 20 years the Grounds Guys of Canada has provided landscape management solutions for clients of all types. These clients range from high-​end corporate offices, to commercial and residential property management firms, to winter maintenance at large auto management facilities.

About five years ago, The Grounds Guys branched out via a franchise system, packaging systems management, branding, and a wealth of knowledge into different territories across North America. Since then, there have been over 45 franchisees added across Canada and over 125 in the US.

Locally we started out in January 2012 and have been drawing on this wealth of experience and systems to enhance our own corporate activities here in Abbotsford. We currently have a team of up to 8 people in the summer to take care of all of your service needs.

The Grounds Guys of Abbotsford is owned and operated by Chris and Juanita Draaistra. We are a family of 7 with 5 children under the age of 11 (and 4 currently in school).

We are a values based family and that carries over into our business. Our personal core values for my family include the following:

* Respecting people

* Standing up for what’s right

* Leading, rather than following

* Serving others

These are all values that I do my best to instill in my staff/​work as well.

My wife and I were partners in the ownership of Van Belle Nursery (www​.van​belle​.com) for about 14 years and have gained great expertise in plants and people management through that experience.
