First I want to clarify something to the owners of Bovis: I am not a serial dater, I just LOVE this place and tried convincing everyone I knew to join me to have dinner here(coincidentally most of my meat loving friends are men). Just the mere thought of this place makes me cry and miss Belgium but then I remind myself that the food and especially the service is not as good everywhere in Belgium as it is at Bovis. As indicated I have been to this restaurant numerous times and tried many of there dishes(all some variation of steak) and without exception, all are heavenly. The beef is cooked to perfection and the simplicity of the sauces, salad(ask for mayo/dressing on the side) and fries shows that good food does not need a lot of frills. I would not have mind if the starters would have been average since the main course is divine, but here again Bovis scores: I always considered Beef Carpaccio as a fairly standard dish, hard to go wrong(although some places unfortunately do manage to go wrong with it) but ever since I’ve been to Bovis I also know that it is hard to do perfectly, the combination of the beef and condiments are perfectly balanced. In case you suffer from FOMO(Fear Of Missing Out) like me you can also opt for the sharing platter which is a nce balanced plate of their different starters. The wine card is also great, an appropriate selection at many price points and they also offer a good selection of «digistifs»(liquor to drink after your meal e.g. Grappa or Cognac). As if is is not enough, if you are not yet satisfied after your starter and main I would highly recommend the Sabayon, which is fluffy and flavorful. To top all this, the service at Bovis is fantastic, the decoration is simple but elegant: I have taken both English speaking and French speaking friends here and the waitstaff always went out their way to speak French/English, when asked for suggestions they are very willing to help you and describe the differences between the different types of beef and can recommend based on your liking. Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication!

Simple to describe. You want to have a good piece of dry-aged meat on your plate cooked to your desire(but please listen to the staff if they suggest otherwise), together with hand cut fries and some of the best sauces I have tested. Look no further. You have found the place you are looking for. Not for the vegetarian fan I’m afraid, although they give you a salad with your meat but most of the people leave them untouched. It’s all about the meat here. I have been there 2 times now and every time was a bullseye for my taste buds. They also have a good collection of Whiskey behind the bar and hidden, so ask the manager if you are a fan.

I am a Unilocal consumer, not a help reviewer, however this restaurant’s steak was so amazing I was forced to sign up so I could put a review on. I grew up on an Angus beef farm in central Minnesota USA. the Scottish Filet paired with the Rosemary Baked potato halves was the best I’ve ever eaten hands down, simply an amazing meal. The waitress was very a co orating since I did not speak Flemish, they aren’t a «check in» kind of staff, you just yell or waive down for what you want, and I loved every bit of it! I’m stuffed but considering eating another meal because of how amazing this was! Per some other reviewers, the meat did take about 30 – 40 minutes to arrive but was cooked to perfection, I cannot fault the time because I had plenty of free bread and wine to ride me over!

Vegetarians, please refrain. As the restaurant sign tells you clearly: «Bovis, simply meat». I went here with a couple of friends, as we stumbled on this restaurant by accident one day and wanted to have dinner there, but couldn’t as it was fully packed and we were told clearly that it would be hard to get a table without a reservation. So we did and got our table and were ready to order our steaks. The menu — only in Dutch FYI — has of course different meats from different countries. We also decided to all choose a different meat so we could try them all. We were served a Black Aberdeen Angus entrecôte from Scotland, a Wagyu from Australia, a Salers from France and a Prime Black Angus sirloin from the USA, made specially without hormones(!!!) for the European market, the menu says. And the meats were served perfectly cooked according to our requests. That proves the quality of a steakhouse. The meats were served with fries(delicious ones) and a side salad. There are no other side dishes that can be ordered. It’s on the expensive side, but you definitely get quality in the meat. Too bad the quality in the service was missing — a little too pretentious to my taste, making us definitely feel being snubbed. As far as I’m concerned, I’m not sure if I would go back there as service is what makes a restaurant good or bad in the end. However, I believe the restaurant still deserves a 4 star because of its meat and its wine collection.

This place has excellent meat and real frits but I will certainly not return. The time between my order and the meat to arrive was 75 minutes(on a weekday evening)! Checking other websites this doesn’t seem to be an exception. They also mixed up the«cuison» of the meat. My steak which was supposed to be «saignant» was well done. My son who wanted well done got his one rare. Unacceptable for a steakhouse. The meat although high quality is overpriced and the wine list has barely any wines which go well with red meat.
