Petit restaurant familial bien sympathique.

Lotus is a favorite among locals of lower Kraainem. People of all ages, including many families, like to come here. The look is European and the feel is Asian, though expect to find everything but chopsticks laid out in front of you. It is Chinese food for Europeans at its best, with predominantly sweet and sour dishes on offer. My Taiwanese partner was left unimpressed, and I can’t say I’ve ever seen many Asians beside the staff and some of their friends, but somehow to me it kind of works. Over the years I’ve been quite a few times and have always been satisfied with what I’ve had. Prices are decent and portions are good. Look beyond the authenticity of the food and taking into account local demographics and you understand why it is so popular, but also why it remains relatively unknown outside of Kraainem and neighboring communes. I’d hardly recommend you go to Kraainem just for this, but I would argue it is the best in that area.
